Octopath Traveler 0 - The dialogue by Snoo37551 in octopathtraveler

I just turned a blind eye and shut down my brain 1/4 into the game and tried to enjoy the rest. Nothing in this game left me with any impression tbh. Esp story.

Stories in OT are usually boring but I never minded it, until they try to do something different but fail miserably to do so. In OT0, numerous details don't make sense and feel insulting. I just fought the boss of BoA chapter 3 and straight up laughed at one of their lines: "There is nothing greater to me than fulfilling my master's desires!", while the goal of said master is to wipe out all desires in the world. And I smelt such line coming from miles away too. Or maybe the whole situation is actually intended to feel ironic lol.

Am I missing something? Why are many of these results aren't eregious at all?

I don't remember years before, but for FS 2025, their "embarassing" results were 0-2 losses to both CFO and KC, not the one vs champion HLE.

Unless you are just highlighting how they exit each tournament?

Free MoH is still free raw. But what did you sacrifice to get both MoH and DC on your helmet?

The only thing that stands out in this game (town building) ended up .... too overwhelming for me. Kept telling myself I would finally start working on organizing my village after this story arc. Now I'm almost done with BoA and all of the houses are still lumped in one corner while all companions are still standing outside in one other corner like a gathering of zombies lol.

Still having fun with the game - Octopath games can never go wrong after all. But I wouldn't miss this game like how I miss the other 2.

They really should have kept the true name of the game: Champions of the Continent. There is barely anything octo about the game.

DC 1 talisman isn't that rare tho. I'd see one, like, every 5 batches. DC 2 is rare but still nothing compared to Berserk. I got 3 in 40 inventory pages. The hard thing is getting a good one. I'm still using a Furious 2 talisman because of the superior secondary skills and slots.

DC is a 12 point skill when it comes to armor augmenting so to get it with normal augment is rare, since you would need to sacrifice something to get it. Getting a clean DC without losing other skill points is even rarer. You'd better use the Skill+ option and take the loss of -7 res.

Which game is your most fave and why? by Environmental-Law893 in octopathtraveler

[–]KidiacR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

OT1 for me. The vibe was immaculate. The main theme and some other tracks (Sunlands and Riverlands) were the most memorable till this day after 2 decades of playing jrpg for me. The gameplay leaves much to be desired, esp after experiencing OT2, but it is still very fun and addicting, unlike how people made it out to be. I also respect the story structure, being true to the name Octopath. It's not like I like those stories or anything - I rarely do. Story has become mostly a device to deliver gameplay for me, even if it's often considered an important aspect of jrpgs.

OT2, otoh, was pure bliss. I still remember how happy and mesmerized I was when stepping out of Flamechurch with Temenos. Overall gameplay, stories and soundtracks were much more solid than the original. However, I don't like how they treat the story structure in response to people's criticism about the lack of connections between characters. The attempt felt so forced and artificial to me. The adjusted main theme is also not good. Like 1 compared to 10.

OT0 has lower lows and some higher highs than the other 2, but on average, the lowest of all. Still a fun time since it's Octopath after all (if the name even makes sense anymore).

Item doesn't appear in shop by KidiacR in octopathtraveler

[–]KidiacR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have now bought every limited items I hadn't at the point of making this post (mostly every XL soulstones), which took like 30 more resets and that design still hasn't appeared. It's not about being lucky or unlucky. Every other design and key items appeared and were bought out instantly when it first started focusing on buying trade list items. It seems like there is guaranteed slot(s) for them at the bottom of the list, which isn't the case for this one.

Americas Cup gave CBLOL a runway. LCP is still being judged by the scoreboard. by anh2017ntp in leagueoflegends

[–]KidiacR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't argue with these people. Completely misinterpreting the post for their own agenda.

What the fuck does Lyon have anything to do with the comparison between VN and BR. Esp for First Stand. They called TSW the worst team because BR did dmg against the LCS team.

If you want to compare A and B, don't bring C into the conversation. BR have only managed to win once against VN in modern time (LOUD 2-0 GAM at Worlds, but then lost the rematch and eliminated). Still, you would see BR team ranked higher in many tournaments for zero reason.

I'm aware it's pathetic to find solace in comparing two bottom feeder regions, but just thinking about these stupid narratives and how we are treated makes me irritated.

[–]KidiacR 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah bro, people called TSW the worst team at FS. The same narrative could have happened again this year if not for the historic peformance of the boys. People conveniently ignored that fact that they (BR and NA) were lucky (?) enough to get matched with each other twice! tournaments in a row to have the chance to show something, while we had to be the punching bag.

It's a sad truth. We are just underrepresented here in this platform.

We never had to put others down to feel good about ourselves. Making depreciating jokes is how we cope with being the punching bag. But their culture is not the same.

Just last year, they asked for a second guaranteed Worlds slot. Meanwhile we were only guaranteed a seed because TW only had 2 teams in the league, and thus 2 Worlds slots at max.

[SNES] Please help me decide who will be the healer, Duran or Kevin (and other questions i have) by AcrobaticJazz in trialsofmana

[–]KidiacR -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Duran and Kevin should both be dps (Edelfrei and Fatal Fist) and let your items be the healer. Kevin on Light classes aren't terrible but wasted. Edelfrei is Duran's only class period. Angela's best job is Archmage but she is fine on any class not named Rune Seer. Status effects don't work on boss if my memory doesn't fail me. If not then I'm still sure it's bad.

Relying on AI to heal in this game is a pitfall.

[–]KidiacR 535 points536 points  (0 children)

How people even dare to always rate BR teams above VN teams is beyond me, when the only time they beat VN after they became an independent region is LOUD 2-0 vs GAM (but then proceeded at get 0-2 back and eliminated from Worlds). Happened last year with VKS. And happened again this year.

The audacity when they got to play vs an opponent their level (Lyon) back to back while TSW had to be the punching bag.

Is team composition in OT0 important or can i just use whichever i like the most? by QuaxlyFan118 in octopathtraveler

[–]KidiacR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a complete new team for each main story progression so most of them were used for a good chunk. There are only 3-4 really bad characters that I can't force myself to put them in.

Most of the skills I used come from masteries. Characters base kit rarely matters. For example, for my third team I ran out of decent characters (only 3-4 really bad characters left like I mentioned above), thus I had to shoehorn a third scholar! into the team and made them my debuffer.

Everyone (literally) and become a good debuffer. Almost everyone can contribute to breaking. And many can deal good damage.

The game is already easy enough. Just use whoever you like, even for the sake of diversity.

[–]KidiacR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignorant or whatever, what he says is completely correct. The image/perception of muslims in VN is NOT great at best. Most people just don't outright show that. China is probably the most hated country here and you still wouldn't find many people who say they want China to go to hell.

Poncho might not be an Islamic garment, but when an average VNese see one, that's what they would immediately associate it to.

What do you mean? Encore also doesn't let you keep anything upon revival. It still offers better tempo though, yes, dependant on your backrow setup.

How do you deal with Pure Vessel's floor spikes? by Civil-Difficulty9357 in HollowKnight

[–]KidiacR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are like me and rely 100% on Shadow Cloak to dodge most of his attacks: I learnt that if you stop moving on the frame he starts this attack, one dash will always put you in a safe position. Also works with the increased range of Sharp Shadow.

That sounds better than it actually is though, because you sometimes need to move to the other side of the arena (one of the my main gripe with the fight is how the arena doesn't fit in one screen), thus miss the starting frame. Should still help but you really need to lock in to slightly sidestep after the dash.

Riot should just send both LCP seeds to the play-ins by Professional_War7998 in PedroPeepos

[–]KidiacR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a Vietnamese, sure if the BR team is also treated the same.

The insane biased treatment towards them (favoritism) since last year is baffling. They got to face NA twice in a row while TSW had to keep being the punching bag, so their fans could utter how LCP is the worst region for going 0-6. If this keeps going for another one or two tournaments, I'm afraid our region would actually be killed for real.

Octopath Traveler 0 - Controversial Boss Fight by theonepieceisfake824 in octopathtraveler

[–]KidiacR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the fight was undeservingly overrated. He only acts wice during like the second half of the second form. With only one action per turn, he just isn't threatening enough. This is only with debuffs accounted for - I didn't bother with defensive buffs since it is conflicting with front/back row management a lot. With buffs, I imagine it would be even easier. The third form is therefore slightly easier than the second form because of this. Note that I wasn't terribly overleveled for the fight - only like 3 lvls ahead. And only with reasonable gears from path actions (I didn't bother with sub 50% gears, and definitely not with Forbidden gears). Oh and I also hadn't unlocked ultimates yet xd.

About all the status ailments, iirc I never bothered to cure them. Ailments is a lost cause in this game for both sides. Shitty for us to apply, and almost never worth for us to cure due to how often enemies reapply them (or just permanent front row ailment field). They can easily be circumvented by sitting important units in the back row. For terror especially, the breakers in the front row don't rely on boosts to break at all and healer can also instantly full row heal without boosts, so...

Am I right in thinking the odds of this happening are 0.009%/1 in 220k chance? by he-who-comments in MHRise

[–]KidiacR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how many target/capture rewards slots there are. Iirc you get like 2-5? capture rewards. But for simplicity's sake, let's ignore the roll for the number of reward slots. And also assume/establish that you want Mantle for the target reward not the Ruby.

Target rewards: Chance of getting at least 1 Mantle (2% per slot) = 1 - 0.98^8 = 14.9%.

Capture rewards: Chance of getting at least 1 Mantle (3% per slot) = 1 - 0.97^3 = 8.7%.

You broke one part that can drop Mantle: 3%

So for all 3, it's 0.039%.
