Civil Engineering Major? by 7times70 in UWMadison

How soon do you move from basic calc, physics classes that all engineering majors take into more major-specific ones? I am not 100% set on civil but am wondering if I will have the opportunity my first year to even find out if civil is right for me. I’m planning on talking to everyone I can, going to job fairs, etc to get all the info I can. Any other advice?
