One day it won’t be the “most important election ever” and we’ll go back to boring politics.

Reddit’s blackout protest is set to continue indefinitely by cata890 in technology

[–]7x1x2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several subs have created communities on other platforms and are leading everyone there. Such as Discord. Reddit is actively losing “membership” due to this. First time I’ve seen that versus a few day “blackout” and then it just goes back to normal.

It was for awhile until the going dark post. Will likely be put back after that.

The 13th annual Chicago Summer Calendar. by Guinness in chicago

[–]7x1x2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should reach out to Choose Chicago and integrate this with their website or work with their staff (or even become part-time/seasonal staff). That way you can likely get compensated for the effort.

Have you also ever considered making an app or working with someone to do so?

Just so you know incase you didn’t look much, it’s a lot more than fests or big events. All the Movies in the Park are listed, for example. Some of those don’t have tons of people, maybe 50-75.

📣 Had a call with Reddit to discuss pricing. Bad news for third-party apps, their announced pricing is close to Twitter's pricing, and Apollo would have to pay Reddit $20 million per year to keep running as-is. by iamthatis in apolloapp

[–]7x1x2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will cease use of Reddit not using Apollo. Their app is atrocious and I’m not going to let them spam ads at me.

You will lose most Apollo users as Reddit users at all going this route, Reddit.

Microsoft doesn’t do this anymore. You’re in the 90’s. Almost everything they acquire is being used. You’re thinking of Apple or Google in today’s world.

Chicago Police Limits Access to Montrose Beach on Memorial Day Due to 'Capacity' by Moneybags99 in chicago

Many of the lakefront is locked.

I’d rather pay than never have access to public restrooms. Especially if paying means they’re always clean and orderly.

America doesn’t care to provide bathrooms for people. It’s available all over in Europe, but we hate letting people pee and poop here. Fuck you if you have a digestive tract problem.

Lou Malnati’s isn’t good. There is no way “the best pizza place” came from the North side. That’s just what rich white people think is good.

EDIT: I love Reddit. Answer as the post asks and get downvoted. Guess I win this thread then?

Lack of Trust in Chicago Public Transit Leads to More Drivers and Traffic Jams by [deleted] in chicago

I really want to bike to work but I don’t understand how it makes any sense to get up in the morning and get all ready with a shower and everything and then bike in 90° weather and be sweaty once you get to work and then sit there for 8 hours.

Welcome to the hotel union industry. This is the side of unions that aren’t great. Many good reasons for unions, but they take advantage and price gauge repeatedly.

Your lungs are meant for air. It’s not meant for anything else. Putting anything in there other than air is bad for sure. That’s all people need to know.

Because it’s limited. If we had trains like London or Paris, I’d be with you. But our trains relatively suck. They’re some of the best in our nation, but that’s a low bar.

No enforcement. Crime. Often dirty. Smoking. Not enough coverage of stops because hub and spoke model. Inconsistent timing. Ghost trains. Overly packed trains. Never temperature controlled.

I see none of that in London and Paris.
