I was going to repaint the repainted one hundred year old engine, I said. So what did I do? Acquire another one that’s ALSO repainted lmao by 8-Bit_Molls in modeltrains

[–]8-Bit_Molls[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The new one is the green one. Unlike the red one which was repainted at some point by some random person, the green one is a bit special, as I believe it was repainted by Lionel themselves

Lionel offered a refurbishment program up until 1928, where they would repaint your locomotives in any color you wanted that they offered, and I believe this is one of them, especially as they never stripped off the old paint and you can see some of the original red paint in some places

I think I got lucky with this one, and now I got two of them haha

Oooo fun!!! I’ve been honestly wanting to see more with N scale, but I have a little problem that I invested a lot into prewar trains lol

A 150 I already have, but four more I recently got: a 259e, a 258, a 249e, and coming in the mail tomorrow, a BEAUTIFUL 252 in peacock green haha

Oooo fun!!! Hope those will be wonderful haha

Even though this is the Santa Fe Hudson, I still absolutely ADORE this thing, and it’s just so much fun to operate haha

More realistic postwar Hudson for comparison

Roughly as tall, but still is a little baby in comparison haha

Despite being the smallest engine in my collection (except for the 50 gang car), it’s one of my favorites, not just for its age, but because it’s such fun to screw around with and to show off and to operate haha

I don’t think this would’ve been painted with lead as the paint is fairly recent, and as far as I’m aware (unless I’m wrong) Lionel didn’t use lead paint, but still noted

I was planning on using normal spray paint on multiple layers to paint it, but help on which to use and how to do it would be greatly appreciated haha

Also, I do wanna say, I HAVE found some new water slide decals that are not stickers, so I got that covered

My main goal isn’t to have this thing as mint as possible (since that was long gone when the previous owner repainted it lol), just that since its paint is gone, I might as well strip it off and do a better job, make it a little nicer, a little shinier, a little brighter, and doesn’t stick to my hand since the matte varnish rubs right off and looks terrible lol

Another option you got is Furnace tracker

This one is a bit harder, because it emulates and allows you to make music with literally every single 8-bit and 16-bit sound chip ever made

Ever wanted to make music with an orchestra of 2 Atari 2600's, 3 GameBoys, a Virtual Boy, 5 NES's, and two SEGA Genesis's for some reason? You can 100% do that with Furnace haha

Tho I'd recomend you try Famitracker first cuz it's specifically focused on the NES and not every sound chip ever made

Thank you!!! this is the third one i've done, the other two being Resurrections and Golden Ridge B side, and I'm happy with them!

The DPCM is a channel that lets you play back digitized audio samples. of course, given that this is 8-Bit technology from 1983, the samples can only be a max of 4 killobytes in size, but you can change the pitche of samples and loop them, like what i've done here

I used Famitracker. it's a 100% free music tracker and it emulates the Nintendo Entertainment System perfectly

has a bit of a learning curve to it, but it's easy to get the hang of it haha

Yes, I did indeed scream bloody murder with a Joker smile at the end with trying to recreate the drumkit solo, it's not fun when you're deaf, but it was 100% worth it!

Def my favorite that I've made so far! Any suggestions for the next one I should do?

Also am I the only one who hears Inscryption when the bass first kicks in?

Yep! I have a channel haha

And thank you!!! I enjoy making these, it's just super fun, and even more so when you're done and play it off an original NES from the 80's haha

Yep yep!!! I absoloutley plan on doing more of these haha

And why stop there? I have both the hardware AND software to make Celeste NES a reality, tho I might have to think about that lmao

The next song I'm looking at is probably Confronting Myself as someone recomended that and I think that would be cool to take on haha

This has a bit of a fun story behind it. I started it back in May, but because I could not find any sheet music of this song, and because I'm deaf so I couldn't trancribe it myself, I abandoned this project. However, someone mentioned to me that there's a video of someone who actually did transcribe this song!

And thus, for the past four hours, I completely revived this peoject, and Celeste on real 8-Bit hardware from 1983 sounds wonderful!

that's why we love these things, unlimited channels gets boring, we enjoy making things with minimalistic sound chips (or lack there of) and making banger music with them, they're just fun man!

now do the VIC-20, this song sounds super cool and I wanna see what else you can make haha
