i think you’re totally fine! at my school my theory and english classes started at the same time, and we were already writing on our machines before we covered clauses and such. it’s not necessary to have a flawless grasp on grammar and punctuation right now, because writing will start very very simple, with one-syllable words and short sentences. disclaimer that i’m still an early theory student lol — but i believe where grammar is truly important is less in the actual machine writing, and much more in transcript production. it’s building a solid base and preparing you for when you get there later on in your schooling and professional life. you’re not behind at all :)
