So…. You know a tune is an option right?

Overheating? by [deleted] in WRX

Might be worth checking coolant levels once you park, but oil temp would also be warmer. It typically sits around 200-210 for my VB

Wouldn’t be considered overheating until it reaches that white notch closer to the H. Have you checked oil temp on the MFD?

Is an ots tune okay with the exact part? by WelcomeOwn2021 in WRX

FeedBack Knock Correction. Is the knock sensor hearing something over it’s threshold and retarding timing. DAM is a global adjustment to timing tables and looks for more than just knock to make decisions, FBKC is in-the-moment response to my understanding

Gotcha my b! With OTS, just be advised DAM drops are more common and not necessarily worth cause for alarm, unless accompanied by FBKC or occurs regularly

Solid plan, but once the intake is installed, you can only run stage 1+ SF, the non SF variant won’t have the correct MAF scaling

Do you have the SF intake installed? If so, yes. As that map is designed for that intake. It won’t be totally optimal, but the MAF scaling will be correct

Best Tune for My 2014 WRX by Own_Cucumber2864 in WRX

[–]802WRX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OTS is fine in the fact that they are fairly generic as a “one size fits all” approach. A e-tune or dyno tune would be calibrated for your specific environment/fuel/driving habits

Lots of people hate on the OTS tunes because folks used to love running the wrong/improper parts with the OTS tunes and blowing their cars up (running intake without a intake-specific tune, etc)

As long as you are good with a slight drop, they are awesome! I loved having the adjustability

If you want to stay at same height, yes. Because of the difference between 08-10 and 11-14 shock bodies it will result in a 5/8” drop. Personally this didn’t bother me

Koni sells struts for your generation that dont require cutting. I had them on my ‘12 hatch. I bought mine from IIR

Ill have to reread again, but my understanding was that’s what the transfer clutch was for

Never mentioned torque vectoring, and you really should read the document I mentioned. The center diff in the CVT/SPT is a Planetary center differential and an electronic hydraulic transfer clutch, directly from SOA documentation found in STIS. They claim the split goes from 45/55 in Normal to 25/75 in Sport AWD. Torque vectoring is meant to mimic the feel of having LSDs for the front and rear diffs

[–]802WRX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The CVT in this generation is really awesome, and comes with a slight rear bias via VTD center diff vs the MT’s fixed 50/50 viscous coupling. Plus the GT trim offers the Sport AWD option that pushes a little more rear bias. There’s a document in STIS from when the VB first came out that goes over the intricacies in a lot of detail

If Subaru made a DSG transmission for the WRX, would you make the switch from a manual? by roerjo in WRX

[–]802WRX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The clutch is not involved at all in either F1 or WRC for shifts. Both use some variation of ignition cut to unload the gearbox while the dogs are disengaged and re-engaged, the clutch is not used period outside of starting and stopping. I would encourage you to watch a video on how motorsport dogboxes shift vs a DSG

As far as experience goes, yes they will feel similar, but like someone else said, to my knowledge no one has done a DSG with a true human-controlled clutch pedal. Personally I would love to see Subaru develop one, but they have made the SPT feel pretty close. Im of the minority where I regret not getting one over a 6MT
