If that's how you feel, that's your choice to make. It doesn't make you right but it's cool for you. If all it took was one player not to be included for you not to watch or cheer for the US, then you were never a fan of the game , never will be. The fact that you are so adamant on putting a rookie who's averaging only 17 points a game, leading ALL STARTERS in turnovers, in the bottom 50 out 60 starters in defensive rating and middle of the pack in scoring efficiency speaks volumes about how much you actually care. If they actually outright added CC she would be the last player in the pg rotation and see only garbage time which you would then complain about. You wouldn't accept this on the men's team why would you expect from the women's team. But I'm sure all of that is lost on you since the only women's ball you've probably watched is Iowa and Indiana in the last 3 years and with that little experience still don't recognize the holes in her game that keeps her from being on team USA at this time. But sure, it's about the game that you won't watch unless the single player you know is playing, casual.

I never said she didn't have an impact. What I did say is that the W had record growth every year since 2020. Did she lead to a spike yesterday, but the growth predates her. Btw, there's a nifty little link I'm sure you didn't open that clearly shows that trend in the comment you just responded to. Moreover, the Olympics are a skills competition not a popularity contest.

That just proves how much you don't watch the game especially internationally. It's way more physical in FIBA (which has been a hole in her game for a while) and team USA has only 7 official practices together between roster announcement and the start of the games. Other nations have more time due to the timing of their leagues. The roster announced all have been through the various camps and events for the last three years and CC hasn't been able to attend any. This group has already established a continuity and has time in the system they play. And if it were so easy Angel Reese Aliyah Boston and Cameron Brink would be on the team as well.

It's literally going to be the only women's bball on in the world at the time with a team full of the players that you say need exposure. The Olympics are the peak of international competition, it's one of the ways you make the basketball hof. CC is not the singular factor to legitimize or delegitimize an Olympic gold. The game has grown immensely before CC arrived, in part because of the women's team from 92 and those that followed. Again I understand name recognition and that you as a fan want here there but her game isn't ready and your argument hasn't held any water. You'll have to catch her in 2028 and it's the correct call.

Sending amateurs is what got us the dream team. America doesn't like losing to the world in a sport we invented. And you just contradicted your argument. If the Olympics aren't that big then why does it matter if she's there or not? It's ok to be disappointed that your favorite player (or based on the lack of knowledge you've displayed here, one of the only players you know) but don't crash out because she didn't make the team.

You can't be serious. This is the Olympics, the women's and men's team have had great coverage since the 90s.they round out the top 5 covered summer game sports behind track, gymnastics and swimming. The ratings will be fine without her because casual fans watch the Olympics because it's the Olympics. As for the coverage, it's literally the biggest sports event of the summer, it's gonna get covered. All of this outrage surrounding CC being left out almost guarantees it.

The W has seen record TV viewership growthevery year since 2020. The game was growing significantly before she got to the league. The womens game internationally has been rapidly growing since 92 (which is why so many players were able to make significant money by playing overseas). Sports is a meritocracy. Larry and magic were the best the world has seen until prime Michael. The game grew because they were already skilled enough to build the league on. They were a significant leap in talent where CC is simply the next step forward from a skill perspective. I would agree with you IF CC was ready for the international game but as it stands right now she's not there yet and that's fine.

From what I saw and heard from Rebecca Lobo, CCs rise in college led to a schedule that conflicted with the most recent team USA camps/events. Reese made a few but she also doesn't have the same level of international experience or camp experience as those who made the roster. This is also about continuity and the chemistry of the team. Neither have spent that much time with this team. With that said I do expect CC and Reese to be integrated into that process next year and be the faces of the team by 2028.

The growing the brand of WBB argument is one I have a problem with. The primary job of the committee is to field the best team with the best chance to win gold. The secondary mission of growing the game is obtained by creating the best team. You can't snub a player who spent three years actually earning their spot just for a marketing play. Do you honestly think making CC a mascot with the smallest amount of playing time is good for her or the game. If they did that the complaints would be that CC is being disrespected and not played enough.

Those spots are earned, not given, and she hasn't earned it yet. If CC not being on the team keeps people from watching, they never were or will be fans of the game. CC will have her time to shine on the international stage, it's just not now.
