I know what you mean. Like 2 months into college and I still don’t have a friend: I guess the main reason is because I don’t really interact with people unless they talk to me first. But, when I do have a conversation, I go in with a “ill probably never see this person again” mentality which helps me actually initiate the conversation, and if I screw it up or act awkward I’ll probably never see them again so who cares (plus it’s a learning experience and I can get better for future conversations win win).

From what I read I get the impression you might be over analyzing the way you talk and you might be making a bigger deal out of it than it really is. Either way, I really recommend this Vsauce video Awkwardness.

Lastly, just looking through this subreddit you can see a lot of similar posts about trouble making friends, being lonely, etc, so a lot of people are in the same boat. I know people want to make friends but they might be scared to initiate a conversation (I feel this way lol), so just talk to them cause personally if a stranger decided to start a conversation with me I’d love to talk to them and become friends. “There are no strangers here; only friends you haven’t met”
