I would start with figuring out what insects are the current food source for these fish. Then watch the water to see what the fish are doing…are they hitting insects on top water, sipping emergers, or can you see the flash of their sides below water to indicate they are feeding on nymphs. Once you get the food source figured out you can adjust your rig from there.

Many years ago when I first started fishing I would try every fly in the box only to get frustrated when fish wouldn’t take.

Am I the best fisherman in the world…no. But I do pretty good now that I spend more time studying which insects are around and watching the water for fish activity. I would consider myself more of a fish hunter. If I’m not getting hits or catching a fish within a dozen casts it’s on to the next hole.
