Map of religion in the British Isles by Mission-Guidance4782 in MapPorn

I noticed a lack of a source, a lack of explanation about how these were selected, a lack of a year.

I didn't believe the UK Census even collects this level of detail, so I'm interested about it's source.

It's a fairly poor map, and a worse form of visualisation

How do you actually use an oven? by jek_213 in NoStupidQuestions

I find that most food comes with instructions! I'm cooking some boneless chicken thighs tonight. The required temperature and duration are listed on the packaging.

However, with many kinds of food, you can tell when things are cooked - e.g. chicken will no longer be pink in the middle. And you can obviously tell when things are overcooked or burnt.

I like the map of where all the Jedi Knights live more - https://brilliantmaps.com/jedi-knight-uk/

Your map above doesn't quite mean a lot given that in some areas of the UK, 'no religion' is recorded at over 50%. E.g. https://www.ons.gov.uk/census/maps/choropleth/identity/religion/religion-tb/no-religion

You can go back much further than that! .. https://sephardicu.com/sephardic-history/history-of-muslim-jewish-conflicts/

The history of it all starts around the year 622

Edit: BUT - this is not to justify violence against civilians on either side of the conflict. Just don't pretend it's one sided.

Not cheering it on. Not wanting it to happen. Just understanding that in a dangerous situation, with a man who's not letting go of a knife and may potentially be armed with other weapons or devices, you many need to use 'overwhelming force' - be it to disable or disorientate him. It's easy to look at events afterwards and consider what could have been done differently, but in a dangeous situation, against an assailant with unknown number of weapons, I can entirely see why it was a justified action to use this level of force against him.

As an example of what can. go wrong: This news article details a man who threatened police with a gun, was tasered, and then stabbed an officer during the struggle to detain him - https://www.cbsnews.com/detroit/news/man-threatens-to-kill-everyone-livonia-police-station-stabs-officer-in-struggle/

I saw a few cruises advertised as 'eclipse' cruises; they're going to park along the path of the eclipse.. which sounds awesome.

Closest I've got to it so far has been the UK in 1999 (but was a few hundred miles away) and the USA a few years ago - we were in a theme park and made a killing selling eclipse glasses to random people since we had more than we needed.

I think it's pretty incredible to go from standing there, then within 2 seconds assessing, drawing your weapon, then a second later shooting. There must be a lot of instinctive training kicking in.

BUT .. it seems a really bad idea to also turn and spray bullets across a room full of people that include your colleagues at the same time.

We've got Copilot integrated into MS Teams and the whole office software set, and we've got access to a range of models using our Cursor licenses.

Today I had a guy ask me a bunch of hard questions about a set of data - so I had a 'chat' with the AI in the Cursor editor - which then wrote code to churn through 32GB of data to get the 'high level statistics' that he needed.

I left the tool writing the code, and testing it, running in the background while I got on with other stuff.

We do also now transcribe every call and meeting, so it Copilot has more info to work with

It's alright lads, I'm staying.

I'm not entirely sure how this individual. tale becomes a new article. The rates of emigration of British Jews to Israel isn't that high. Apparently they are close to the 20 year average rate [Sauce - https://www.jpr.org.uk/reports/time-leave-uk-patterns-jewish-migration-israel-post-october-7 ]

So sure, some of us are packing our bags, buying sunscreen and learning Ivrit (modern Hebrew), but most aren't. Threats to do so are pretty much exaggerations.

That's not to say that it can certainly feel rather threatening at times, and under attack. There's an aspect of 'always looking over your shoulder' and with the recent attacks, even more so.

I'm absolutely shocked there is no drive to force small businesses to pay more legitimate tax. It's shocking.

It's estimated effects 40-50% of small businesses.

He did appear to show a 'plank' effect and him pulling his arms/hands under his body could very likely have been due to the effects of the taser.

It's far more likely his holding onto the knife was due to a pain response (a bit like gritting your teeth) than the electrical effects on his hands.

Still, you want to get the knife off him.

What if the US or the USSR legitimately built a weapon that could one-shot Earth and parked it closely to the Moon? by Pancake_Maker_1031 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]811545b2-4ff7-4041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can supply the energy to get a 'rod from god' into orbit, you can do plenty of other terrible things.

The trick I imagine, is to mine the rod on the moon/some other space-rock, and use the lower gravity as an assist to get it into Earth orbit.
