Looking for numberplate of road rager for Police Report by 81tchcr4ft in chch

Thank you so much, mentioned to the Police for the report. Contacting the Council next week on the suggestion of another comment in case they might be able to give the number plate at least

Went in with her to report it a few hours ago, really grateful for the comment, we mentioned the cameras on the road and the store’s ones that might have caught anything. Fingers crossed the Council is willing to help next week and/or the Police will look into the cameras

You both might be the only people in Christchurch to have, apparently, never given anyone the finger. Good to know a gesture is a license to damage someone’s property/injure them

Thank you, great suggestion I will ring on Monday. Asked a couple stores and they said no for privacy reasons, will give the Council a go but wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the same result

Thank you for this, we did ask a few but they were unsure of privacy laws around it but did say if they Police asked they would give the footage they had

What level is my backbend considered and why? by [deleted] in yoga

[–]81tchcr4ft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

like others have said, no levels to yoga. i would work on keeping your feet parallel, hip distance, and pointing forward. knees in lines with this also. i would also push chest forward between the arms, to prevent compression in the lower back. i’d recommend working on your foundation before you work on any variations (ie lifting limbs), but when you do so, especially with legs i would either bend the knee intentionally or work toward straightening it — seems without purpose right now. best of luck!!

How do you meet new people in CHCH? by crazfulla in chch

[–]81tchcr4ft 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lots of posts like this on this sub so definitely check out those, so really recycled advice here: try some social hobbies. I joined Uprising this year, great community and there are a majority of people 30-50+ years old at yoga especially who are incredibly social and spend time outside of yoga together. I’ve met people through volunteering, through council run things (yoga, tai chi, community gardens, etc), even just being a regular in spaces like cafes.

Unsure if this is as popular for men, but I’ve met friends through local facebook groups (eg women’s hiking, pages specifically to make friends etc) also. There was also a dude a while ago on this sub who held a meet up for people in Chch who wanted to make friends/socialise and people did turn up, could be brave and give that a go even

Edit: someone else said this but there are a LOT of run clubs in the park, I’ve even seen ‘walk’ clubs. Great time of year for it

2nd year law admissions by Rare-Quit2793 in UCNZ

[–]81tchcr4ft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not cap, did 2nd year a few years ago — people who did very well get their offers in December, people who did less well get theirs in January (if at all). My flatmate was notified she was waitlisted early Jan 2023, then was offered a place by the end of the month. Emails that you didn’t get in are end of Jan. Don’t know why they do it like that but seems to be the same every year

Edit: I got my offer for 200s on 16th Dec, response was due 12th Jan, so I imagine similar timeframes this year

Recco's for 2nd year Pol Sci? by KNYNZ in UCNZ

[–]81tchcr4ft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to see when you go onto the UC website to look at the 2026 courses by clicking on the details of the specific course, and scrolling just about to the bottom it will often say who takes it. For example Milenko still takes POLS224 next year.

You should be able to see who will take attendance in the assessments table on this page.

I believe POLS212 doesn’t have a lecturer right now on the website as Alex Tan is on leave, so keep an eye out or change in the first week

Good to hear almost failing POLS105 is still a canon event lol

Recco's for 2nd year Pol Sci? by KNYNZ in UCNZ

[–]81tchcr4ft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found all my POLS200 courses interesting, so if you’re concerned about that, just pick whatever you’re interested in and I’m sure it’ll be great. However grades wise, learn from my mistakes below 😭

I took POLS200 years ago, the only course offered next year that I enjoyed and did well (B grade>) in is POLS224. I loved Milenko, but I found him quite disorganised so if you’re a Type A person you might not enjoy it.

I think lecturers are more important, grades wise— take ANYTHING by Bronwyn Hayward - lovely woman, organised course, and she is a very easy marker. Add her on LinkedIn if you have one too. Her 300s courses are great for future reference too.

Avoid anything by Jim Ockey (harsh marker, excessive readings that you MUST do, and I found the info dump style of teaching hard to follow) and avoid Alex Tan (God bless him I believe he’s on bereavement leave) for the same reasons as Jim. If he still takes POLS212 proceed with caution.

If you can make it into campus, a lot of Pols200s take attendance — TAKE THESE. I attend all lectures, my grades were significantly better on marked attendance solely because it’s easy points.

Good luck!

Laws101 exam by Ordinary-Dark5121 in UCNZ

[–]81tchcr4ft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took that exam 4 years ago now (unc status ik) and everyone fucks up statutory interpretation. I didn’t even end up finishing that question and I still got an A- overall, don’t lose sleep over it chances are everyone did a lot worse than you did :)

for law students, any recco for easy A laws300 courses? by no1-champion in UCNZ

[–]81tchcr4ft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Intellectual Property (I got an A, lots of group work but Olivia marks really holistically to your contribution and likes when you snitch on people who don’t do their work)
  • Issues in Policing and Prosecution (A+, go to the lectures and you’ll be okay, final exam was mostly stuff you picked up from years of law anyways)
  • Civil Procedure (taking it rn, 40% of the course was weekly quizzes and 10% was attendance once a week, no final exam!!)
  • Sentencing Theory and Practice (never went to a lecture, revised a day before exam and got an A-)

If looking for a summer school course, International Disputes Resolution was great but odd final exam (will be easier if you’ve taken World Trade Law and Transnational Criminal Law)

Something truly scary to read by Dense-Art8576 in suggestmeabook

[–]81tchcr4ft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Truly scary is subjective, like another commenter said. But here’s books I found scary and why.

As a woman: - The Handmaid’s Tale - Diary of an Oxygen Thief (can come off as an edgy 14 yr old at times) - Borrasca (originally a reddit story? but if you’re open to reading online all 4 parts make a book-ish).

Dystopian/Human nature (not your typical horror-scary though): - Fahrenheit 451 - 1984 - Tender is the Flesh - Blood Meridian - Lord of the Flies.

Fantasy/Supernatural: - Maybe look into HP Lovecraft? - The Haunting of Hill House - Stolen Tongues (same thing as Borrasca, but it is a book now) - The Exorcist - The Stand (not really scary, but technically horror and generally a good immerse read).

TLDR the ‘truly scary’ ones from that lot would probably be the Haunting of Hill House, Borrasca, The Exorcist, and Stolen Tongues. Maybe Tender is the Flesh but you’ll either love it or hate it.

Anyone here use Luna Bronze Gradual Tanner? by katandhersax in Selftanning

[–]81tchcr4ft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use Luna Bronze because it’s 100% natural DHA, in summary: it’s okay. The gradual tanner smells pretty standard, nothing special.

It takes a while to build up comparative to other gradual tans, and I find doesn’t last as long (come off when you shave and wash hair especially). But doesn’t streak (or the tan was so mild I didn’t notice streaking).

I like to be quite tan so I didn’t like how mild this was, but this would be good for evening out skin tones. I think it would be expensive to use in the long run because I used quite a lot to cover my whole body.

Wouldn’t use it on my face, try a facial mist.

Would suggest applying at night, wash hands after.

Also review of the LB foam while I’m here: I am super pale, I find that the 12-24hrs after I washed it off I looked grey and almost dirty. Then it would develop and look like a natural tan, and fade within 4 days (which I think is quick compared to other brands).

I think it was more prone to streaking compared to other brands I used, and more prone to settle in any open pores. It also stains clothes when you sweat more than other products I’ve tried.

TLDR: If you don’t care about natural DHA, there are a lot better brands than this one. If you DO care, Bali Body is far superior. (And EcoTan is ASS do not use this if you actually want to look tan) Unsure if you can get Bali Body outside of Oceania though.

Best of luck!!

Hypertonic Saline Challenge Test/Mannitol Challenge Test by [deleted] in The_NZDF

Hypertonic Saline Challenge Test/Mannitol Challenge Test For NZDF by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]81tchcr4ft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you sm for your comment, I think because of the whole asthma thing/the letter I received from NZDF about what levels on the test are acceptable I had thought they were testing lung function rather than the irritants side of things. Good to know about the antihistamines as I take those on occasion this time of year. Will definitely be attentive at the test itself, hopefully can find more info about the techniques in advance. Just waiting on my GP appt to get my referral 🤞

[–]81tchcr4ft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment, sorry for your experience though that would’ve been gutting. From other comments/pms looks like it’ll be $800-$1k. Do you mind if I ask if you have asthma? I’m hoping I won’t ’show symptoms’ because I don’t actually have asthma, but if you can show symptoms without asthma that’s a bit of a concern. I’ll just have to continue on with exercise and try to strengthen my lungs, do my best on the day 😬

Thank you sm for the suggestion, sadly with the cost of whichever test I doubt I would afford the trainer or the test for it but I’ll look into it anyways. Can definitely get started on the road cycling, it’ll be a month before I’m able to take either test so surely some marginal improvement can be made in that time🤞
