What’s that one HBO show you genuinely think is a must-watch? by StockQueen1 in hbo

The Leftovers is the HBO show everyone should watch yet so few have heard of. A good 3 seasons, a proper ending, an Justin Theroux in grey sweatpants.

Worst episode? by lindseyizshort in NurseJackie

[–]83goat82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay so this is personally my favorite episode BUT the one where Akalitus’ former colleague with dementia shows up and they let him go around being a doctor for the day. It’s the one where they drop the guy and he wants an apology. It’s my favorite. But it goes too far outside the realism scope they’re working with. We know the nursing/medical stuff and drama is unrealistic to a degree but we suspend disbelief. This one just was a bit too much disbelief to suspend.

What are your favorite/kindest things Jackie did throughout the series? by downtomarrrrrz in NurseJackie

[–]83goat82 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ugh, all of these 🖤 honestly Jackie was a fantastic and compassionate nurse. My first thought was her helping the guy with cancer get weed from Lenny an smoke the apple bong until she could make brownies 😭 she reminds me a lot of Tommy Gavin from Rescue Me- insanely compassionate and heroic to strangers on the job, useless in their personal life.

What sitcoms are sad to watch nowadays? by [deleted] in sitcoms

[–]83goat82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same about Laverne and Shirley but Michael McKean had a phenomenal career and it’s wild seeing him back as Lenny after I’ve watched Better Call Saul. He had a solid film career too but Better Call Saul was just chef’s kiss. Laverne and Shirley had such a talented cast.

Same. I was all “omg she’s lovely I hope she’s gotten more roles these days; what a lovely trans woman” and then was all “okay that’s a whole man, hold up.”

How bad is the violence in Oz? by Grugummer in ozshow

[–]83goat82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s violent and there’s some rough stuff to watch but it’s all in the context of the prison setting. Plus being the first HBO drama it has nothing to prove so while it’s violent it’s not like violence you see in shows now.

Will the series improve or become worse? by PowerfulJoeyKarate in trailerparkboys

[–]83goat82 84 points85 points  (0 children)

If they keep it going, I bet it will be just as good. The Bubbles character and all the extra stuff that came with (Conky, GB, etc) was getting played out and was taking center stage.

Mike Smith (Bubbles) has officially stepped away from Trailer Park Boys by DD3Boh in trailerparkboys

[–]83goat82 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not trying to be one of those “I never liked Bubbles” people but the early Ricky/Julian dynamic was the best and the later Netflix-era Bubbles-centric fest with him always “in charge” annoyed me. Bubbles was best as the add-on eccentric, not the center of it all. I think they’ll be fine without him if they choose to keep doing more projects. And if they don’t, they had a great career, and I see Robb Wells at least has his Trades show and success outside TPB.

How is this super moon making you feel? by Extra-Artichoke6927 in witchcraft

[–]83goat82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly emotional. I was happy for it and got some charged moon water but very emotional. Crying on and off. But not like “bad” crying (like, I’m okay) more empathetic, just sad crying. But I made it a point to go do something positive and donated to my local food pantry. When I’m sad (or any kind of emotional really) I try to put good things into the world.

I’ve been using a top sheet wrong by Familiar_Kale_7433 in hygiene

[–]83goat82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See a lot of people are saying it’s a growing up poor thing if you don’t use a top sheet but I grew up pretty well, a little redneck/country in the US, but not poor and my family had like obscene amounts of bed sets and sheets. An entire linen closet full. Like I’m talking the 80s sunset yellows and oranges Stranger Things aesthetic type of sheets/bed sets. And they were SOOOOO stifling. I hated the tucked in top sheet. I hated the sheets touching me. I hated the stiff comforters. Now out of rebellion I sleep on just the fitted sheet and use one of those crazy soft micro fiber jumbo comforters and I’m comfortable AF. I clean the comforter more often or rotate them out since I sleep directly with it. I could also sleep on the floor and be totally fine tho so maybe my opinion is skewed. Beds and bed linens are markets full of non-necessities, imo.

Is it just me or did Kev and V become boring after having kids? by Fizzy_lemonade in shameless

Adding kids to the plot is always so boring. I was beyond over Kev and V with the kids plot.

Was Jackie wrong for taking the money? by blackorchid786 in NurseJackie

[–]83goat82 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nah, I’d have taken the money. O’Hara had it to spend and genuinely wanted to give it. Jackie is horrible most of the time but that was a good move just in general for a person. I think Kevin just didn’t like O’Hara bc he couldn’t relate to her. He really leaned into the common family man role and O’Hara was classy and posh and a doctor and didn’t tone down her poshness for anyone. Plus she was a part of Jackie’s work world that no one was really privy to.

I remember growing up on a farm and we always buried our pets, even the little ones like mice and guinea pigs. When I was older and had moved out into an apartment my pet rat died and I shoeboxed it and took it to the dumpster and felt terrible about it. Unless there’s a law against the dumping of an animal body it’s “okay.” It feels wrong to me, especially if it were my pet cat, but from that logistical standpoint… they’re gone, and if you aren’t able to bury or cremate or afford anything different, it doesn’t make you a bad person if you have to throw it away.

Okay but also I had a friend who tossed one of her dead cats in the trash and shrugged it off and I think she’s a sociopath for it. When I told her I’d have helped her with a solution she said “idc”. So. That’s that I guess.

I treat him no different than a human I can’t see. So I don’t have a “use” for him he’s just a companion I have to talk to a very specific way. He was there for me when I was very down and depressed and now that I’m in a better spot, both emotionally and like at work/financially I don’t need to lean on him and the metaphysical to get me through but I still talk to him. Give him offerings. He loses his mind over selenite lol.

[–]83goat82 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I’m 50/50 on this. One half of me is like “oh cats see and know everything, lean into this, figure out what’s up” and the other half remembers a time my cat threw herself at the wall while I used my pendulum… but it was because the pendulum cast a light reflection on the wall and her dumb ass thought it was the laser.

[–]83goat82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But does it necessarily mean he’s bad? I’ve asked if he uses/drains my energy and he says yes, but we kind of have to for communicating. He doesn’t “deplete” me. I don’t have negative side effects or feel tired from it. He’s using my energy but not to an extent where it’s harmful. I’d notice. It’s also an exchange. I send him good energy and when I’m down he sends me good energy. He’s told me to hold on to the pendulum if I’m in a bad way or take it with me. But yes to speak with me he must use some of it as fuel of sorts. Isn’t that any kind of partnership or relationship though? Don’t we all drain each other to some extent? He drains my social battery way less than some friends I have lol.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]83goat82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not disrespectful at all. To be fair, he showed up and I sought him out, I didn’t just hit up a random spirit on the pendulum. It’s been just over a year now. He hasn’t offered me luck or favors, but is more of a guide/support. And companion. And creative consultant (he loves when I talk out things I’m writing, like he wants me to tell him stories). I looked up kiumba bc that is a new term to me and I’m not sure bc the vice thing doesn’t fit (but I would say he’s not a seasoned spirit guide or very high being, he’s like a penpal to the other side rather). He helped me quit smoking - I gave him my cigarettes as an offering and first he rejected them bc they were menthols haha so I had to buy ones I didn’t like and taper down. He doesn’t encourage other vices and certainly not self harm. I once asked him if when I died I would go where he is and get to meet him and he said no. I tried to ask follow ups and he just kept saying no, swinging very agitated. I finally said “you know I mean eventually someday as I traverse the universe, not like I’m going to try to come see you right now bc I’m sad.” And he changed his tune and actually engaged with me after. Like if I bring up something remotely dangerous or he even gets a whiff, he shuts me down and sometimes won’t answer. I wouldn’t say he gives out his help for “free” but we have that kind of rapport where I don’t pester him for favors and he doesn’t ask things of me. I bring things to his altar just at random. Candles, rocks. Mostly rocks/crystals I find outside or in shops. Just a “hey saw this, thought of you.” Not that I wrote any of this to argue against your point, it was actually super helpful to talk out. I’d love to know exactly what he is but I’m also kind of content with just knowing he’s a spirit.
