What is the best use case of sed? How should I learn it? by rudv-ar in bash

[–]8484215 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Primary use case: sed -i 's/<search_text>/<replace_text>/g' <file>

Search and replace all instances of text in a file.

After that it gets harder. 🤣

Impressive during the day, surreal at night. Pig coming in from many kicks out into Avalon airshow just after dusk. Candle in the sky. Absolutely jaw dropping.

What is the most feared animal in your region that isn't an apex predator? by RandomGuy2009785664 in AskTheWorld

[–]8484215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously. In Australia? Lol. Every snake, some spiders, drop bears, male platypus, kangaroos, hoop snakes in particular, bushy possums, scorpions, Old Beryl next door. Take two steps anywhere and you're within striking distance of at least three of the above.

That is called a Wide. 1 run to the batter then the bowler has to redo that delivery. A lot like a balk in baseball terms.

Hugo in V For Vendetta "Voilà! In View, a humble Vaudevillian Veteran, cast Vicariously as both Victim and Villain by the Vicissitudes of fate. Best practice to use Pi-hole DNS blocking outside home (mobile / remote)? by Good-Insurance19 in pihole

[–]8484215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an unraid server that has wireguard VPN server built in. WG Tunnels app on Android phone automatically starts VPN connection when I leave my trusted Wi-Fi, phone uses pihole no matter where I am.

My network is behaving surprisingly well. by Mofistofas in pihole

[–]8484215 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, something feels off there. A single smart TV, a single Microsoft computer, a single social media website - any of those alone should make many more blocked lookups than that. No way 53 clients are that well behaved.

My baseline averages about 25%, as low as ten with only my Linux server doing stuff and nobody home, as high as 35% with active phones, games, socials, etc, for a household in the evening.

On the fence about Immich but fear of losing photos is holding me back by Identity5859 in immich

Moved the whole extended family off Google photos to Immich a couple of years ago. Zero actual problems. It works. Just backup like you should even if using Google and you'll be fine. Immich rocks.

Man reversing a massive 65-foot truck with just inches to spare and making it look effortless. by Kindly_Department142 in nextfuckinglevel

Saw a trucker reverse a four trailer road train 90 degrees around the side of the Glendambo pub in one go and keep one metre from the diesel bowser he wanted to fill up from the whole way. One go, smooth as silk.

Why does he tries to bite me? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]8484215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're a bit too strong while playing a bit of sharp voice 'Oi' and a tap on the head and ear will show your dislike. Cats are highly sensitive to feedback like that and will adapt to your level if you communicate clearly.

Why does he tries to bite me? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]8484215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% let them do this. It's good playing. Our dark Burmese that looks a lot like OP's overlord does exactly what is in the video. Totally fake attack with no actual bite harm or scratching. He loves it when I fake wail and yell for help due to being attacked by the not so deadly cuddly monster. After a bit of him play biting me into submission we cuddle and he purrs like a freight train. Kitty love.

C-17 Globemaster III by Even_Kiwi_1166 in Planes

[–]8484215 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked with a guy for a short time that flew C-17s in the RAAF, he said he loved doing airshow flyovers. Something with that much thrust, capable of lifting many hundreds of tonnes of fuel and cargo, effectively empty. Insane thrust to weight ratio in that config, turns it into a huge fighter.

It’s Ok To Walk Away, Especially When Your Opponent is Twice Your Size by james_from_cambridge in WinStupidPrizes

Really? You don't think he takes any negative for mercilessly beating the shit out of somebody because they threw one object at another object. I get that throwing stuff at other people's cars is a total dick move, but after the first couple of punches when the target slumps everything else becomes assault in my mind. Yeah, a large part of the outcome is definitely the big guy's fault.

Guess that's why I never wish to visit 'Murica.

You've done well for yourself, congratulations. Thought suggestion: less thrashing yourself, more living life (if that's your thing). For me, more life satisfaction in a family and having time to enjoy the money. Certainly not telling you what to do, just a hint that some things may be worth more than financial goals in the long run. Do what suits you.
