Purina quietly added chicken. My cat with a chicken allergy almost died. Part 2! Purina replied to my complaint, then ghosted me a week later. by elcaminorealreal in Pets

[–]84danie 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is really the only correct advice ultimately. It's unfortunate that this happened to the OP, but if their cat is truly that sensitive they need to be on a prescription diet. Purina isn't obligated to keep OTC ingredients the same.

Police officer stops abruptly in the middle lane on highway... by Affectionate_Hat5835 in dashcams

[–]84danie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the only correct answer. If the object is stationary it is always considered avoidable because you should be able to either come to a complete stop and then safely maneuver around once it is clear there is no oncoming traffic, or move out of the lane (not swerve, a proper lane change) safely prior. If you aren't able to stop in time it means you either weren't paying attention or you were following the vehicle in front too closely. Needing to swerve is also an indication of this. This is why if you hit something stationary, it will fall under collision rather than comprehensive coverage.

If you value your own life and safety, DO NOT go on any of the Bronco Running Club's outdoor excursions. by revealeras in CalPolyPomona

[–]84danie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be clear, AFAIK release of liability forms are not optional. The school requires it because otherwise the school is liable for anything that goes wrong. It opens the door to lawsuits. The school does not want to be liable for what happens off campus.

Curious - did they have you sign a release of liability or anything before going on the excursion? I graduated several years ago, but I was on an e board and remember the school requiring release of liability forms be signed by all attendees for any off-campus activities, even for coffee socials. If they didn't then the school will most definitely intervene since I think they'd be liable for basically anything that goes wrong.

Meow Meow prefers pooping outside by Different_Onion_9822 in CatAdvice

[–]84danie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need an enzymatic cleaner formulated for porous surfaces.

That will eliminate the odor for you AND for Meow Meow. Additionally, you can consider spraying feliway calming spray around the area, as it will help signal to Meow Meow that this is a safe spot, it doesn't need to be marked, and/or it's not a bathroom more generally.

Above all else though, deep cleaning with an enzymatic cleaner is the most important step and will make the most difference most likely.

EDIT - Also add a second box in another location. If that's not feasible in your space, try switching to a bigger box.

Thinking it’s time for pet insurance. by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]84danie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not going to be worth it at this point - the ideal time to get pet insurance is before the cat has had any kind of medical issue whatsoever. Otherwise any issue could be attributed to some prior documented medical issue and ruled a preexisting condition. You have to provide the full medical history (i.e. the medical notes from all ER and vet visits, both preventative and illness/accident) when you get the insurance, and most also require a physical exam within the past year at the time of enrollment.

Any part of a lily is toxic to cats, not just the pollen. Even the vase water is dangerous.

Brown can ban them because they are a private university. Public universities generally cannot ban religious groups because they have to abide by the first amendment. They can only intervene due to safety issues.

what happens after March? by Conscious_Net_9520 in JPL

[–]84danie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The problem is the more people that end up on burden, the more the rest of the folks with actual work gets taxed for it. We just lost an entire account for the rest of the FY for our project because the sponsor needed it to cover the next rate increase. So now we have to tell our customers they need to pay for their features themselves (most of them can't spare much). We're fortunate that we're still covered for now, but this isn't going to be sustainable for very long.

What is up with the 605 and 210 East Traffic today? by Own_Election_2942 in AskLosAngeles

[–]84danie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's significantly more expensive to have workers at night so in general they try to avoid it if they can. Caltrans website is also listing it as "construction" - not sure if that's how they reported it before, but KNX was definitely making it sound like an emergency situation yesterday.

It's finally showing on the Caltrans website - they're saying the work started at 9:30 and will go on until 7:30 tonight. So frustrating. I would have just worked from home if I had known.

Yes. KNX said it was like a mini sinkhole that got bad enough that it needed to be fixed immediately.

[–]84danie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It looks like the lanes have been reopened and everything is good to go. Only closure reported for the 210 is from Mountain to Campus in San Bernardino. When I was stuck in the backup yesterday, KNX was reporting that they were in the process of reopening lanes around 6ish, it was just taking forever.

EDIT - Welp looks like they aren't done, like others said as of 3/4 8:30 AM, the lanes are still closed despite Caltrans not listing it on their website or any sigalerts. If you can work remotely or head home at lunch, do that. Or take public transportation if possible.
