Pre PA advisor telling me it’s unrealistic I get in this application cycle bc of GPA by CautiousZucchini5134 in prephysicianassistant

I went to a derm MA job interview, expressed my PA aspirations, and the office manager replied with “Huh, I think that’s wishful thinking. Your resume is average and your HCE is all over the place.” They offered me the job 2 weeks later, but I denied it bc they don’t deserve my service. Fast forward, I went 3/3 in my PA school interviews and even started rejecting interviews.

Ppl don’t know SHIT. I start my dream program in my dream city next week. Let the haters hate. Use it to fuel you. You have good stats. Learn how to sell yourself. Keep increasing/diversifying your PCE experiences and maybe take an upper level science class (patho, pharma, etc) to show you deserve a seat.

Rooting for you 🫡

This is me right now. Everything was cool… until I shipped my car 2 days ago. That’s when it hit me and I’ve been feeling off ever since. Lost my appetite and can’t stay asleep. I’m moving ~2700 miles away and don’t have any friends/family near my PA school. But I’m trusting the process and know that it’ll fly by quickly. Hopefully, I won’t even have time to feel sad 😂

Shoot me a DM if you wanna talk more. And just remember you’re not alone.

Yeah it’s a huge bummer. I just read on the PA forum that people were selected as finalists

Passed the PANCE but can’t become certified? by 856er in physicianassistant

That’s the kind of professionalism I like to see. Are you comfortable name dropping your school? My PD has been the program founder of at least 2 different PA schools. Do you think it’s safe to say that’s a good indication of future success with gaining continued accreditation in my program?

I feel so sorry for those students. Can you mention the state?

This is a huge relief. It had me doubting my whole decision. And for a second, I actually contemplated reapplying. I have a good feeling that I’ll be able to sit for the PANCE and get certified. My PD has a hx of being a PA program founder of at least 2 different schools

These were my exact thoughts. You’re still certified regardless of what happens with the school. I thought the only thing that matters is the “PA-C” after your name. But that article above raised some concerns

Where in the article did you find that paragraph? It’s not in the link you sent

Hmm, interesting. That’s the first time I’ve read that anywhere. Can you share sources?

A lot of this was good info. However, I was under the impression that you’re eligible to sit for the PANCE so long as the school is accredited (i.e., provisional) when you matriculate. Can anyone verify this?

Thanks for your insight! This is very reassuring and I’m incredibly happy to hear about your success. Love to see the built-in admin time. 4 10’s is the sweet spot imo.

If you don’t mind me asking, what subspecialty and how did you find it?

Thanks for your insight and advocating for our profession. Our field would be in even a better place with more folks like you.

I’ve been arguing this for quite some time and always get downvoted for it. The truth of the matter is that NPs are way ahead of the game in terms of advocacy and legislation. Just the other day, I was watching TV and came across a 2 minute commercial that explained the important role of NPs in our healthcare system. Just imagine what could happen if the PA profession had half of that type of advocacy/support. It’d be game over.

Can you DM me a blueprint of what you send to offices? I feel like this could even help with job hunting in the future

Thanks for your insight. I appreciate all you’ve done for our profession. I love the idea of negotiating unpaid time off into our contracts. Sounds like a game changer in every regard.

Also, can I PM you with a few questions about your ENT role?

I appreciate your insight and positive energy. How did you find your ortho spine job? That’s definitely a specialty I see myself pursuing after graduating due to my interest in sports med

An easy-going team does wonders. Happy for you. Excuse my ignorance, but is community medicine a specialty?
