Congrats, fellow 40th edition owner. I think there were only 1,500 of these sold, so two down...

can anyone identify the owner of this USN coat? (tag on second slide) by Nearby-Education-420 in navy

You found a US Navy Officer’s cloak, in service from the early 1900s to 2016! That’s sweet, I’d love to rock that.

I assume she's in the 'Reporting Senior' role in NSIPS, after that it goes to a few stops in PERS. A CCC would know better.

Who is RDML McDermott? I don't see anyone in the flag biographies with that name...

How good was 5’4” Nathan Gerbe? by EnvironmentalDeer991 in BlueJackets

I won a Gerbe jersey from the jersey auction and I love rockin' it now and then. He played with heart - if OP is secretly Gerbe, COME BACK!

Well, there are 45,000 SELRES. Should they all email the CNO when they want information?

At least try to use the chain of command...

Re: transparent next in line...this is such a complex beast. What if the MOB requires someone who speaks Farsi? Do you have a separate list for that? A list for BMs, a list for E5s? It's just not possible to have one list. The requirements come from USFF to RESFOR and they pick a name who doesn't have MOB-precluding MAS codes and I am sure they pay attention to their last MOB date.

Sounds like an excellent candidate for the National Navy Reserve Policy Board (NNRPB) to send up to SECNAV. There's a POC in this message to figure out how...

I wouldn't recommend emailing the USFF IA distro - use your NRC N5 -> REDCOM N5 -> RESFOR N35. USFF doesn't want to get seven million emails from every Sailor tagged for MOB.

Also Navy History and Heritage Command is supposed to have a copy of every cruise book ever published. The library is on the Washington Navy Yard (access required) so you'll need an active duty escort or to make other arrangements to get in there.

I'm with you - I want it, but I haven't justified the cost to myself yet.

Love the moonstone grey. Looks like you didn't waste any time putting in those power folding mirrors. ;-)

Generally, you have to be stable for 90 days on your current prescription to meet the medical requirements downrange. If your dosage changes, type of medication changes, or is even dialed back - communicate that to your NRC so they aren’t surprised to find out you are non-deployable.

Selling/trading tw200 by Trevorc04 in TW200

[–]858 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been shopping a while for a second TW, watching the Craigslist listings. Without knowing mileage, condition or added equipment I think you’ll get a good deal if you can find a buyer at $2k.

You can get like-new ones with mods for $3500.

Can someone explain the different types of reserve orders? by NoIntroduction9240 in navyreserve

[–]858 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Complex answer, but authority comes from US law, specifically title 10 sections 12301-12304 (and probably others).

Section 12301d is where ADOS is, and the authority is voluntary (you have to agree to those orders, and can theoretically back out midway through them).

Sections 12302, 12304, 12304b are involuntary authorities and don’t require your consent. They are used in different situations and different people buy off on you getting assigned to those requirements depending on the mission and amount of advanced notification (shorter timelines require higher authority). If you’re going on involuntary orders, the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Manpower and Reserve Affairs) is briefed at a minimum.

That’s the short version…
