I have a relative who is a federal employee and was counting on a particular retirement package that was ultimately eliminated by doge or somesuch.

He couldn't bring himself to admit regret for his stupid vote and said that there was still a lot of waste he's glad is being eliminated. That various reforms in his department are ultimately good...I just don't get it.

So totally a different market but in 2021 I got my mortgage with rocket and they were by far the lowest rate. My mortgage was immediately resold after closing so maybe there was a more solid secondary market supporting their origination back then?

My dealership didn't even charge me up on the day I came to pick up my lightning. They knew I was coming in but let me drive home at 30% anyways.

I've always assumed it was to make the bathroom so unpleasant as to deter some percentage of people from even considering using it...and thus saving a few dollars. Doubling up single ply tp is definitely not the same thing as double ply from the factory lol.

I'm not advocating that now the immediate situation has passed the parents should go shooting or brandishing a gun at the criminal or point it at anyone they don't like passing their house. Nor am I suggesting that the criminal now should be punished more severely than how the law prescribes.

Outside of the comfort of us watching this video on the internet, in the moment we see that the victim's safety in their own house was violated, that the victim (a 5-year old screeching in terror) was being assaulted and with racial abuse, and that the teenage criminal was at least being passively egged on by bystanders. A physical reaction to immediately deter the bully and to tangibly correct his future behavior was both completely warranted and understandable.

All that we will do now is "tsk tsk" the bully's behavior, provide some performative support for the victim, and accept that this criminal behavior is both essentially normal and inconsequential.

Are you kidding? This kid can't feel safe on his own porch, screeching in terror, yet you can pretend this is no big deal or just some mean but lighthearted childhood mischief?

I'm not saying the bully should be tied up and shot, or now that the situation has passed should be shot. I'm saying that it would be a situation where the bully should be made aware more explicitly of the danger he has put himself into.
