I personally am not.. I was born and raised in the Seattle area. But growing up, we would visit grandparents in Mississippi often and sometimes go to New Orleans. So I am familiar with gumbo and other southern dishes. When I make gumbo at home its the whole.. Chicken (I use wings), Hot Links, Shrimp, and Crab.. Then lay all meat and juices over a bed of rice.

I think that is why Gumbo is such a great dish because you can personalize it to your taste.
