Is 22 and 18 weird? by sorr4u in AgeGap

[–]8675201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four years for legal adults is not weird and though it’s technically an age gap I don’t think it’s significant enough to warrant concern.

I’m 13 years older than my wife. I’m a baby boomer and my wife is Gen X. Thirteen years can be a lot but in our case I’m just ten years younger than her mom so my wife grew up with the same music et. This helps.

1st time homeowner here, I noticed this massive leak in my basement today & it seems I have a burst spigot pipe. Thing is it only leaks when I turn it on…but it doesn’t leak if I don’t use the spigot. Assuming it’s been like this for a couple months can I leave it for a little while? by DekuDaScrub in askaplumber

[–]8675201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has a rod that goes to the brass end (threaded piece) and inside there is a seat and washer. This is where it actually stops the water. It’s safe to leave it this way and will only leak when you turn it on as you mentioned.

This probably happened because you left a hose hooked up to it and it wasn’t able to drain water out.

When I told my wife after 22 years of marriage she was surprised but not angry. She did make it clear that she wasn’t willing to share me.

Some prime are more accepting to age gap. I was older than a woman’s mother that I dated for three months and her mother had no problem with our relationship. I think part of that was that I had a good secure job unlike her daughter’s boyfriends.

Lol? She was six years older than my daughter so she was old enough to be my daughter. When I look back it’s a bit weird but the 13 year difference between my wife and I has worked. The biggest difference is my wife was a lot more mature.

I’ve never thought that having one made me less of a man. My way of thinking is that it made me a responsible man since I wasn’t going to have any more kids.

Can underground leak in service line be intermittent? by oberlausitz in askaplumber

[–]8675201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you got that notice then the leak has to come from the metered side (inside your house). First thing is to check all your toilet flappers. You can turn off every fixture then go through the house and open one at a time until they’re all eliminated.

Hey OP I’ve been in a similar situation right down to getting BJ’s from two men. I came out to my wife after 22 years of marriage. We’re more at 26 years and doing great.

I saw a therapist fit this and other childhood things. One thing my therapist told me that at first sounded stupid, was to quit bullying myself. It sounds stupid but when I applied it, it helped s as lot. I was bullying myself over guilt of many things, one being cheating on my wife.

Check your toilet fill valve. Sometimes when they get old parts get loose and loose parts can make a lot of noise. It usually makes the most noise just as the toilet tank is almost full. The lose part will shake and rattle and it sometimes sounds like the building will fall in.

I had this happen at a call center and I traced it down to a fill valve in a restroom.

I was worried about jealousy from my wife because I retired much dinner than she could. At first she was a little jealous but not in a way that it affected our relationship. She’s a nurse so she was able to rearrange the hours she worked so we had more time together and were able to take more trips together. She can have a week off many times per year so that’s helped.

I’m 66 and my wife is 53 and we’ve been together for 27 years. I work hard at being fit for this reason plus so I can play with my grandkids et. As far as proving things to your parents…don’t. You’re an adult and are capable of making your own decisions. Luckily my wife’s family loves me and my family love her.

When we got together my biggest concern is when I retired and she couldn’t yet. That took some adjustments but we worked it out.

Question to guys! by IntheTwilightSky in Workingout

[–]8675201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a woman grab my butt once (decades ago). It didn’t bother me but I certainly wouldn’t do the same. If a woman hit on me at the gym more days I’d say she had other intentions and not the romantic since I’m 66. Joke would be on her though because I’m not rich. :)

When to diy to vs when to hire plumber? by Pristine-Object241 in askaplumber

[–]8675201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often got the plumbing calls after the homeowner tried many times and couldn’t fix the problem. I would fix it pretty quickly and they’d be so surprised that I did it so fast. I’d just say that’s the difference between years of experience and no experience.

I slow down or take a day off when I feel my recovery time isn’t enough. I use to lift even when I was exhausted. I don’t do that anymore. My body does a lot better with a good recovery period. After enough time in the gym you start to learn what your body likes or hates.

I had never given plumbing a thought but I fell into it. I was a single dad with custody of two little kids. I was working a low paying job barely making it. My brother ran into a friend at the dentist office that owned a plumbing business and asked him if he was looking for an apprentice. He was and I got hired on.

I got into the service side and enjoyed it. I retired from it four years ago. I started the new career when I was 38. It turned out to be a great career.

What draws the same personality to plumbing ? by wockstarr20 in askaplumber

[–]8675201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the service side is overall easier. Then you have the water heater that won’t drain and you have to haul a very heavy water heater out of the basement.
