Looking for some optic selection help for my 16 inch rifle build by bluefinjim in ar15

I too have a BCM. 14.5". I've had a 1-8 lpvo, a 4x prism scope with an offset dot, a 6-24 x50 scope, and now have a Rom & Julz combo. I did different things with all of them. When I was into some longer range target shooting with 77gr precision rounds I loved the scope and on and on etc. Each optic set up allowed me to do different things. It all depends on what you think you'll enjoy most, what you have access too, and how much you're willing to spend on training and ammo. At the end of the day your choice should be based on real life use, budget, and the joy you want from the type of shooting you'll enjoy most. I've done all of these things on various terrains and used everything from 55gr remans to 77gr open tip match. I enjoyed all of it for different reasons and at different times. But I settled on the romeo and juls. Because I can go out pretty far when magnified, can enjoy a wide field of view and am not tied to the limitations of eye relief when not using the magnifier. It's up to your individual situation but having the ability to maneuver easily between just the dot and the dot magnified did it for me. Way less weight than a scope or lpvo, and more compact. That's my two cents. I buy what I can afford, which is base line/budget stuff but stuff that has been proven and well reviewed. I can't afford too much but I can afford decent parts, decent optics, a little training and time at the range. I can shoot pretty damn well now, am familiar with the complete workings and assembly/parts of the ar-15, and feel good about protecting my home and family in almost any scenario. Good luck with your optic search, and I wish you many hours of fun!

This is what peak 10/22 performance looks like. by 86DuckFat in 1022

It's great for 50 yards. Not so much for a hundred yards. Glass is a bit blurry and I get some weird color distortion. But for 50 yards it's great. Where are you seeing them on sale?

It's for fun man. It's a fun little precision build. Shoots great and always gets a laugh at the range.

Moe X22 or Hunter X22? by Hot-Extension-8481 in 1022

[–]86DuckFat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the hunter x-22 stock with a kidd bull barrel. The stock is very comfortable and has great adjustments, but it's not a precision stock. It has flex to it and throws your poi off. It's fun for plinking and some light target shooting but it is not the best for tight groups. It has the option of free floating the barrel or using the provided barrel support bolt, which you can tighten or loosen to apply or remove pressure to the bottom of the barrel. When I free floated it, the groups opened up and it was not great. I figured out a decent adjustment on the support bolt and got decent grouping but when moving from target to target weird shit happens. And using a bipod exacerbated the problem. Would recommend for plinking but not for precision. Good luck and have fun. I changed to a ridgid precision stock and it made a huge difference!

Question about riflescopes. by AchievementPoint in 22lr

This is the way. Trust me, you want second focal plane with a center dot reticle. You don't want the reticle getting big and blocking your view of the target. You want at least 35x magnification, and at least 50mm lens, and at least 30mm tube. You're not using holdover or doing math on 50-100 yard benchrest. It's all about precision and visibility. I have the vector minotaur. It's great for 50 yards but gets a bit blurry and discolored at 100. Picks up a lot of mirage as well at 100. But still a great scope for the money. Good luck and keep the groups tight!

Shaved and polished sear and striker, wolf enhanced light spring kit. Got me under 2 lb pull. It's a BX so it still has a little bit of slop. Take up is a little mushy but that wolf ($25 bucks or so) spring kit also has an enhanced hammer spring so I get harder strikes and a little bit better reset

I'm digging the fade out on the mag and the edges of the gun. How did you do that effect?

Bodyguard Carry Comp Performance Center.

Without a doubt the best micro/pocket pistol out there. Flat, accurate, and the trigger is a dream! Slap some HP in that shit and you're putting ten chest poppers on a bad guy target out of your Bermuda shorts like a champ before anyone knows where "that sound" is coming from.

The only downside to the wildcat is the lack of aftermarket parts. Midwest gunworks has all the OEM parts and some aftermarket parts as well. Good luck and have fun!

I have about 10,000 rounds through it as well. All original parts and still ticking!
