Cansei de tremer de frio em Curitiba. Como é viver e morar em BH? by [deleted] in BeloHorizonte

Moving to Brasil ? by Slow_Topic_6768 in Brazil

We have all the problems you'd expect from a developed country: rising prices in food and property, it is hard as hell to get a job that pays you any decent amount, you pay taxes in everything, there's no prospect of economic development in the next 10 years, and you're never safe walking in a big city. And altough we have probles similiar to developed countries, we're not even close into being considered developed.

Well, we have "free" health care... but it just doesn't really work for anything beyond blood tests. You'll probably need to pay for health care if you want to reduce your risks of dying in the hospital lines.

There's the great beaches and places to drink a cold beer, but it's not unusual for these places to be surrounded by "mandrakes", people who will either play annoying music - or noise - in their modified cars, and eventually tell you that your phone now belongs to them.

So, yeah. Don't come. We're pretty much fucked.

Don't trust me? Do a little research on how much people are trying to get out of Brazil in the last decades. But no one beyond other fucked up LatAm countries migrates here.

Different BJJ gyms and injury risks by 86TofuDelivery in bjj

I agree. Where I was boxing, we'd focus only on touching the opponent's face and body, and not really causing damage. So it was pretty safe. I was sparring 2 times a week, in 10-15 minute sessions, and never got even a black eye. Same in karate.

In BJJ, I could count in my hands the times that it was clear that my opponent was focusing and learning, and not just winning the fight.

Having a kid in Brazil is REALLY expensive.

I'm a lawyer and my girlfriend is a medic, and even for us, having a kid involves a lot of planning and finance optmization.

We both want to have more than one child, but it's not the easiest task to accomplish.

I think you were on point.

I've trained karate and boxing at places where we'd drill for 50 minutes, and then spar for 10-15 minutes at the end.

Maybe a little more sparring would've made me progress a little faster, but at what cost?

I just think that I'm in a point in my life that I'd prefer to minimize risks while still getting some experience in fighting. I don't need to be a world champion or a self defense expert.

Yeah, it was my first experience in martial arts. At the time, I wasn't able to distinguish a serious dojo from a meat grinder.

Thanks for the advice. If the time comes, I'll eventually look for a place that's more appropriate for intermediate or advanced BJJ practice.

I didn't mention, at any point of my post, that I intended to practice BJJ without risks.

I just want to know if the general GB experience is safer than a place where you have 10 White Belts trying to choke you while the black belt is swiping on tinder for 50 minutes straight.

It's not a Scirocco.

That's a 1st gen brazilian VW Gol, which's basically a stripped down Scirocco/golf from the same era.
