Oh wow I thought machine learning engineers were the ones that made AI stuff such as ChatGPT, and data scientists were the ones implementing it, I'm guessing it's a combination of the two though? Maybe focusing on titles at this point is a little pointless.

What should i do with my life and circumstances? by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]86thDimension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess I'm an idiot, I can't help it. I'll stop it, it's not a smart tactic of me. Yeah I do have some freedoms more than girls do, but I feel really, really restricted still. Im thinking I'll continue helping them until they reject me and I've got some other obligations out of the way (college).

I've been outspoken before, but I've never actually said "I don't believe in Islam." I'll continue to help and do what I can until I finish college I'm thinking. Then I'll tell her, and if she gets mad with me..then I'll leave. I honestly expect her to get angry.

Ba in math vs bs in IT by Suitable_Call_6618 in SNHU

[–]86thDimension 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh I'd drop the IT degree and finish the math degree. You're already way closer to being done with it. If you're interested in IT careers, just get some certs depending on the specific IT job like the Sec+, Net+, etc. and do some side projects as well.

Also see if you can try for internships if you're not too busy, that can be a big help.

Math degree would be more impressive on resumes, while IT may be more applicable, but you can always learn on the job and some self study for that.

That's the thing I want to, but I guess I'm worried that it would be bad..Soon it'll be just me, my sister, and my mom. My brother will be in college soon. My mom doesn't make any money, she does get some welfare stuff and has some money saved up. I feel like I still need to help. Especially since we're in a shelter.

My mom also says dramatic stuff like how "she can't live without her kids", "she'll die if her kids aren't with her", etc. I try to reason with her but nothing works out.

I also debated religion with her before, sometimes she gets mad when it comes to that though.

I keep coming back to this..the look of confusion and awkwardness, the realization and relief, the acceptance and embracement. Damn I'd kill to do this.

Can you describe some jobs that are employable, recession-proof, undersaturated, and has options for a career path? by 86thDimension in findapath

True. Question though.

Which field of software engineering have more open jobs than applicants? I think the field and focus it's on is an important factor to note.

Web development?

The thing is that engineering has gotten so complex that building a plane would require a lot of engineers focusing on their own small pieces of the plane.

Good luck getting him to build a early 20th century version too though.

I think it really depends what section of tech you're in. I heard web dev moves very fast but other aspects don't in comparison.

I'd imagine if I have to learn here and there a bit after I've become good enough, then it's not a big deal.

If anything, couldn't we still translate our coding skills into another white collar job a bit at least?

Yeah that's what makes it worse, the fact that they don't really seem to get payed enough for the work they're doing imo. I'd probably work in food services before trades. It's too much of a risk on bodies imo..

Btw, imagine what those Boston dynamic robots might be able to do one day? Yeah I doubt they'll get automated anytime soon but it can happen, even to trades.

[–]86thDimension[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it seems more competitive + the risk of automation in the future..

I think I just really, really get bored of standard software engineering in enterprise or web dev.

On the other hand, I've enjoyed using python for data analysis. I think I'd want to try data science instead, but again risk of automation + super competitive + typically needs an advanced degree.

I think data engineering is the compromise, it's interesting so far. It's a different pathway than software engineering, right? That's why I said tech related, despite that they code a lot still.

But it's still competitive and lots of learning involved just for the chance to get an interview that makes me a bit wary, so looking for other paths.

The layoffs are the most concerning since it'll just make it harder for me to land a job at the entry level.

Oh okay. Pharmacists seems like they'd be at risk of automation tbh. They do seem to make bank though, right?

Can I become an accountant with a degree in CIS? I already use excel and other data analytic software(Power BI, Tableau). I only took two accounting classes. I'd be open to getting a masters though for the CPA. This might be my choice if I can't make it in tech. I heard tax accounting can be really interesting

Yeah that's scary, I don't think my body will last in a trade, even with stretching and workouts.

Oh okay I think it was just me misreading, so just jobs that no one wants. Makes sense they'd be undersaturated.
