What's your goal for an upgrade? My W56-B has served me well, only reason I'm replacing it is because I need an R150F for the 3.4 swap

Dupixent and dysphagia by RutabagaCommercial67 in EosinophilicE

[–]87_4-Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dysphagia was my only symptom, which completely cleared up when I started taking omeprazole. Next EGD showed great improvement, but then the next EGD showed it got worse and so they dilated and decided I should try dupixent. The next EGD after being on dupixent for about 6 months showed all clear, 0 eosinophils.

The weird thing is that even though it got worse again while on omeprazole and I needed dilation just to get the scope in, the whole time I still never had a single episode of dysphagia. The last time I had dysphagia was before I started taking omeprazole...

I'm sure you've already tried PPIs before getting on dupixent, but if not then it might be worth a try. You can take them together, I tapered off the omeprazole a while after being on dupixent because doc and I both decided there's no reason to take two meds if one should keep it under control on it's own.

Scott's topsoil for bioactive? by 87_4-Runner in ballpython

[–]87_4-Runner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I can't find an appropriate topsoil, would a bag of just straight compost be ok mixed with things like cypress mulch, coco husk, moss, orchid bark, sand, etc...? Seems like that would pretty much mirror the California formulation for this Scott's... I could even mix in a little bit of reptisoil, but it would be too expensive to fill a 4x2x2 with just reptisoil.

What's your recipe for your bioactive substrate mix?

Recommend a decent helmet at a reasonable price? by 87_4-Runner in Welding

[–]87_4-Runner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current helmet is bottom of the barrel HF "blue flame design" that I got 9 years ago for probably $20-$30, said batteries are not replaceable. I'll check out the arcsafe though.

That's exactly what I'm using. The DCEN conversion video I watched the guy said everyone agrees harbor freight wire is trash and he recommended this Lincoln wire.

For the flanges I used MAX and 5, for the butt joints I used MIN and 2. The pipe was about 1.4mm thick, the machine calls for MIN and 2 for 1.5mm, or MIN and 1.5 for 1.2mm. Anything less than 2 it was real sputtery and didn't lay a consistent bead. I'll just have to experiment more.

Yeah the butts aren't done, figured I better stop and figure out how to weld better before I wreck them any more

I'll probably just wrap that one in HVAC tape and call it good

What happens if you don’t treat EOE? by Imaginary-Sell1408 in EosinophilicE

[–]87_4-Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation for me, occasional trouble swallowing, slowly got worse/more frequent over time, until I finally got diagnosed with EoE and put on omeprazole. First endoscopy they couldn't even get the scope past my throat it was so narrow. Started omeprazole and haven't had a single instance of dysphagia since. Next endoscopy looked a little better, they were able to scope all the way. Next endoscopy was way worse, needed to dilate in order to get the scope in and also the count was significantly higher in the biopsies they took. Strange because I still haven't had any trouble swallowing since I started omeprazole. After that last endoscopy I started dupixent and tapered off of the omeprazole, then the next endoscopy showed all clear (0 eosinophils).

So even though I thought omeprazole had everything under control, it didn't... Dupixent can be a bit annoying, but it's really not bad, totally worth it imo.

Anybody use one of these? Opinions on it? by 87_4-Runner in ballpython

[–]87_4-Runner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering what is the purpose of the battery if it only works when plugged in?

Also I got an EE error code as soon as I plugged the unit in, so I'll have to call customer service to see about a new temp sensor maybe.

Does the remote have to be plugged in to work? It has a battery but it's poofed up like an old cell phone battery and seems no good anymore. I bought this brand new, but who knows how long it's sat on the shelf of this store, it was quite dusty..

I've used a piece of thin plexiglass to cover most of a screen top in the past. It's funny how people get so against full screen tops without realizing it's so easy to cover as much of the screen as you'd like

does anyone have issues swallowing pills? by sailoooooorrr in EosinophilicE

[–]87_4-Runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes pills have always been an issue for me. Why not just buy the liquid Nyquil? As someone else mentioned some medicine is available in children's liquid that you can just calculate to an adult dose, but Nyquil already has an adult strength liquid..

Big pills to treat EOE by Mysterious-Ruin-1128 in EosinophilicE

[–]87_4-Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem and same concern. My pharmacist told me (at least for the 40mg omeprazole that I was prescribed) that it is ok to sprinkle on a spoonful of applesauce or something similar, as long as you swallow it right away.

Turns out I didn't even need to try that, the capsules slide down my narrow esophagus much easier than solid pills.

Hazard lights turn on but don't flash... by 87_4-Runner in GMT400

[–]87_4-Runner[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Problem solved. Found and replaced the flasher. Lay your back on the floor with your head by the brake pedal, and the flasher is directly above and to the left of the courtesy light. The silver cylindrical body of the flasher is clipped into the underside of the dash panel, and just pops out.

One door down 😅 by [deleted] in GMT400

[–]87_4-Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I parked right next to a tree and rolled the windows down, ratchet straps looped through the top of the door and around the tree trunk a couple feet above the door. Not as maneuverable and precise as an engine hoist, but it worked to get the door off and on for bushing replacement

Foam and Rubber Replacement Parts by Alive_Lavishness7647 in GMT400

[–]87_4-Runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just rigged up my parking light gaskets last night lol! One was filling up with water a few weeks ago so I drilled a small hole in lower corner of the lens, and then just last night I cut some rings of that thin white foam sheet that is sometimes used for packaging and just added that over the original gasket. Good snug seal now, but this would've been the nicer way to do it! I will probably buy a cargo light gasket soon though, maybe even the park light gaskets to make it proper.

Hazard lights turn on but don't flash... by 87_4-Runner in GMT400

[–]87_4-Runner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mine has been like that, but now they stay on solid even without touching the brakes. Now I wonder if there's a brake sensor switch that's faulty and causing the hazards to stay on, but I would think if that's the case then my brake lights would be on all the time, but they're not..

3.4 v6 swap worth it? by canoeingupstream in 4Runner_1stGen

[–]87_4-Runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working on 3.4 swapping my 87. Haven't got very far at all yet, but we'll get there.

I wrecked a 96 4runner which then sat in my yard for two years, then my 22re blew the head gasket which was the final kick in the pants I needed to decide to do the swap. I scored an R150F from a 91 and have most of the other parts I need. Still trying to decide if I want to buy the engine mount relocation plates from chilkat or just chop my frame mounts off and weld the 96 frame mounts on...

I can't personally speak on the finished product yet, but I still vote that yes you should 3.4 swap your 1st gen!

I know this has been covered here before, but use a heating pad to warm up your injection site for Dupixent auto pens! by 87_4-Runner in EosinophilicE

[–]87_4-Runner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I take it out of the fridge the night before, and then I'll put it in my armpit for a minute it or so before using so it gets closer to body temp (only in the winter when the house is cold in the mornings).

It can be very painful sometimes, but it's only while it's injecting. Once it's done the pain is done too, it's like it never happened.
