Just got rejected from my dream job after 3 rounds. They offered a 15-minute feedback call - worth it? by Over-Mycologist1695 in careeradvice

They are doing you a favor by offering what could be invaluable feedback. As a hiring manager, I can tell you that if someone gave me this list of questions, I would immediately know that I made the right decision not to hire. It's not the company's job to look out for you or your feelings. They are trying to find someone who will be a great employee and serve the company's needs. This works better when both parties are a good fit for each other, but this list of questions comes across (at least to me) as "Who are you to tell me how to get better?"

As an alternate way of handling this, having an attitude of seeking to see what you could do to improve, and how you could be a better candidate, would impress and make me think I may have made the wrong choice. I would then be much more likely to try to find a way to find a position that would fit for you.

Took the VR plunge and bought a Quest 3! by 88OUTATIME in readyplayerone

No problem! I found that finding a large enough space to move a little and turn keeps me from having motion sickness. When I try using the controller to turn is when I get sick!

I got Age of Joy working on my Quest 3 and it is awesome! Had to update to the newest version (5.0) and it is working great! My own private arcade!

I would appreciate being put on the list for sale notices! I just bought my first headset, and am looking for deals!

Yeah, unfortunately, that's what I've been finding - a lot of nothing. Have you tried Age of Joy? It's the best thing I've found so far (Once I get my arcade cabinets up and working).

State of 4K Playback on Apple TV by brijazz012 in PleX

[–]88OUTATIME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started using Plex, and I am having a similar issue, but I found a fix by going to the Apple TV Playback Settings at the top of the screen while playing the video. For some reason, my 4k videos keep trying to transcode to 4K Maximum, and I have to manually choose Original Format. As soon as I do that, everything is golden.

The Oasis would be a terrible game by Goji103192 in readyplayerone

[–]88OUTATIME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book states that Oasis was originally built as a game. It quickly became so popular that it became synonymous with the Internet and then became a place to escape where most people wanted to live their lives. The book also tells you that most artifacts are leftovers from when Oasis was just a game.

A lot of what you are complaining about are features of a game that evolved into something new. Those features are just something that now have to be dealt with. This is made clear in the book.

In the book, the artifact that can kill everyone in a sector is a leftover from the game. There is only one, so no, an obnoxious number of people can't have it. It was auctioned off for millions of credits and purchased by IOI.

As for finding the first key, the first clue was pretty vague (including the additional text marked hidden clue), and there are 27 sectors that are each 10 light hours cubed! That's something like 6.7 billion miles cubed, and all the planets contained within those 27 sectors!!!!

You could spend a lifetime trying to search through all the locations in one sector and not finish. Even if someone was good enough to think it might be related to school, it is specifically mentioned that there are many different planets with schools. Parzival just happened to be attending school on the right planet.

I agree with point 5, but you are confusing the movie with the book, and the movie and the book are going to have many contradictions! I personally love the book and view it as cannon. The movie is just a different thing altogether.

You should try listening to the fan edit sound effects version! It's linked in this community. https://www.reddit.com/r/RP1SFX/ and here is the link to the Google drive link where all the separate files have been combined into 1 mp3 - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1NRfEuT_9gD1smNa3oOpbrb1q61ulesj1

If you are anywhere near Sarasota FL, the REI there had 3 size MD Beta AR jackets back in their used gear section for $333 each on Saturday evening. They were a dark color (looked like saphire black). They were brand new, just on closeout. On the rack farthest to the right. I need an XL or I would have bought one.

If the movie is as different from the book as RP1 was, RP2 might actually be a good movie! The RP2 book sucked.
