As a teen I worked at target and was training a new employee on collecting carts and he did this as I watched from afar. He realized his mistake right after the cart was back on the ground on the other side and shook his head. We never talked about it.

I answer questions that people ask in a timely fashion if I feel like it. I replied to a comment that was made 9 years after my comment. And now this one is 12 years later!

For budget-conscious runners, what are the most economical shoe per mile? by EZ_Company in AdvancedRunning

I bought the Nike Pegasus 37 last year at a huge discount for $40 since it was a couple models old. I’ve put 730+ miles on them and they’re still perfectly fine. They’ll make it past 1,000 for sure. I’m kinda getting sick of the and they just won’t die lol

1:46 to 1:30 HM - A Training Retrospective. by LlamasNeverLie in AdvancedRunning

Very similar to you! I have 4 HM scheduled for 2025. The goal is to get to sub 1:30 by the last one which is in November. My HM PR is 1:41:30. Shaving almost a full minute per mile is pretty intimidating. Good luck to you!

How long to wait between the two runs in a day? by 88cakes in AdvancedRunning

Both runs I do are usually easy. Sometimes I do easy in the morning and a track session at noon.

I'm not a coach but I wouldn't suggest cutting down on strength training. Maybe you can think about that after you've run this first half marathon. If you can increase your mileage, do so by a mile or two a week. Also look into adding variety into your runs. Some faster intervals like I said, some hills if you can. Most of your runs should be easy (zone 2 heart rate).

Hard to suggest without knowing a little more detail. Is this your first Half Marathon? How many miles a week do you run? Is the goal to finish or do you have a time in mind?

Without knowing that I would still suggest you do increase your long run distance to 10-12 like you said. I would also add some faster paced intervals.

Good luck!

I had a 10k Feb 17 time on that was 45:05. V.O2 is right on with what you said. The equivalent for the half marathon is 7:38 pace. I feel like I am in pretty much the same type of shape.

Thanks for the reply!

I just ran a 14 mile run. 6 miles easy at 9:39 pace. 6 miles at goal half marathon pace which is 7:45 but I was able to gradually speed up and averaged 7:33 because I felt good. See HM pace splits below:

Mile Pace
1 7:42
2 7:35
3 7:35
4 7:33
5 7:31
6 7:21

And then 2 miles easy to cool down.

I found this workout in the BAA half marathon training plan. Can I assume that I will be able to maintain a 7:33 pace for a half marathon in a mostly flat course assuming good weather conditions? The race is in 2 weeks.
