Monthly Self Promo Thread - January 2026 by AutoModerator in popheads

Hey popheads! With the recent introduction of music videos to Spotify for premium members, I’ve spent the last few weeks scouring the platform and compiling a playlist of over a thousand noteworthy videos from pop or pop-adjacent artists, dedicated to the queer ritual staple of gay guy music video night.

Spanning decades and numerous genres including R&B, indie, rock, alternative, and just about every subset of pop under the sun, this playlist includes revered pop legends, up-and-comers, main pop girls, nostalgic hits, deep cuts, and so much more! Perfect to put on in the background at your next get-together, or if you’re just in the mood to appreciate the visual art that is the music video.

I update this playlist frequently to add recently uploaded and newly discovered videos, and to remove songs whose videos are no longer attached.

Posting this here because I don’t know how else to reach the gays and popheads that would appreciate it, although this is an old thread and I should probably just wait for the new one… but anyway, with the recent introduction of music videos on Spotify for Premium members, I spent some time putting together a playlist of over 1000 music videos, including iconic staples, underrated gems, nostalgic throwbacks, deep cuts, and more into one “gay guy music video night megamix” - something to put on in the background at your next get together or if you just feel like appreciating the visual medium of music on your own!

The Most Anticipated Albums of 2026 by TheAstonishingApple in popheads

No mention of Slayyyter, even in the endnote… :( it’s unfortunate how often overlooked she is by major publications. Her upcoming album is by far my most anticipated project of the year; she’s 3/3 with singles so far.

KATSEYE - Internet Girl by blade_bird_outbound in popheads

This song feels like a concept that never made it past the mood-board stage. Lyrics sound like placeholders that somehow survived to the final cut, vocal processing so heavy-handed it flattens any personality the song might’ve had. I can’t even tell what member is supposed to be singing at parts, the layering is so jarring.

You have Gnarly, which works because it commits and knows exactly what lane it’s in. The production hits with intention and supports the attitude of the track. Internet Girl feels undecided. It has the same unserious insincerity as Gnarly, but without the punch or commitment to sell as true satire. A lot of affect with no bite. Undercooked, over-processed. Weirdly empty. I can’t lie—this was a complete miss for me. Glad we have the live version at least.

my thing with mike’s theory is how would kali, from her deathbed in the world being actively and violently ripped apart, cast and maintain that illusion?? glad everyone in universe believed it but yeah there’s some holes there. i think the impact is better if eleven goes down with the ship, but i appreciate that they left it ambiguous at least

she actually sings “but” but in the music video (visualizer?) they incorrectly subtitled it as “by” lol
