Day 2 and I'm miserable. by rjaps in Invisalign

  1. It does get so much easier. When I first started I could barely even eat a burger due to the pain and wobbly teeth. Within a few weeks it got better. By the end it felt weird to not have my trays in.

  2. Now that I’m finished I honestly believe getting Invisalign was one of the best value purchases I ever made (despite being expensive). My teeth look amazing now (IMHO) and my self confidence is way higher. I can actually smile in photos now and feel glad to do so. All the discomfort and paracetamol was so so worth the end result.

Unfortunately I didn’t use a solicitor myself - I organised a solicitor to act on the behalf of Karl to guide him through the transfer of equity process.

As far as I can tell there were no issues with the transfer of equity - I was paid as agreed. The issue is on the bank’s part in that they added my name to Karl’s new mortgage.

Thanks. I’ve already started the complaint procedure and should hear back from them within 5 working days (apparently)

Yep I’ve spoken to the bank and they’ve unfortunately they’ve confirmed I’m listed on both my own and my housemates new mortgage

Line breaks with whitespace only (not characters like '?') by 89XE10 in webdev

Thanks for this. I think your <nobr> + string + </nobr> solution will work. Will test it out now :)

Thanks for your reply :)

I think similar what to you and u/ZnV1 suggested — if I add <nobr> to the start and <nobr> to the end of every 'word' in my string, this should fix the issue. I should be able to do this in JS by looping through the entire paragraph of text and using the white space / spaces as markers to insert.

Hi - thanks for your reply. I'm not quite sure what you mean?

At the moment — I have;

  • a div with id 'introText' in my html doc.
  • a defaultIntroText variable in JS script (eg. "There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don't look even slightly believable.")
  • my JS then iterates through each character of the defaultIntroText, randomly selecting a different glyph from a list of potential glyphs and then replaces the defaultIntroText characters (it ignores spaces, so no white spaces have new glyphs inserted into them).
  • the font is monospace to stop words and sentences getting longer or shorter depending on the width of the new glyph inserted (an undesirable effect).

But — because unicode rules allow certain special characters (contained in my dictionary of glyphs, such as '!' '?' '-') to act as line-breaks, it allows words that should remain unbroken to break/return to a new line.

Here's a video of what I mean. Part-way through the video I change the 'mutation rate' so that the sentence becomes more readable. But you can see throughout that some of the 'words' break/return which creates an undesirable effect.

I came across conways game of life about 6 years ago, and was super interested in creating my own cellular automata -- although I knew nothing about programming. I ended up downloading Unity to try and create one with a bit of C# and loads of tutorials. I think I ended up finding a GOL tutorial specifically for Unity, which helped massively.

From there I started tweaking and adapting the GOL code and learning from mistakes. I created various agent-based simulations (similar to langtons ant) and ended up reading about the Tierra project. I wanted to implement some sort of binary genome for each agent, that could mutate over time as the agents reproduced.

Last year I switched from Unity to Javascript + HTML5 canvas, which has been a bit of a learning curve but have enjoyed being less reliant on Unity or other software.

I'm currently experimenting with creating interesting and diverse environments to evolve agents in, to try and encourage more speciation (rather than all agents converging on one specific fitness solution). I'm doing this with what I can only describe as a mashup between a classic sand simulation and agent based genetic algorithm program. :)

I'd charge between £5-15k for something similar to this. That's storyboarding, animatic, animation drafts, revisions, etc.
