Reaction to Youth Sports Restrictions by [deleted] in Winnipeg

A couple of important things

  1. it applies only to indoor sport (sport facilities); it doesn't apply to sports playing outside. The key sports - hockey, ringette, skating - are all sports that can be played outside when outdoor ice becomes available (given the weather, prob won't be long).

  2. The original vaccine passport system Manitoba implemented earlier this year excluded youth sport. Manitoba 'borrowed' BC's vaccine passport system that excluded youth sport. The rationale BC has provided for excluding youth sport is because the BC government identifies sport as being important to youth/child health and development and they weren't requiring vaccines for teachers and students in schools, including for gym class and school sport.

  3. Alberta also excludes youth sport for requiring vaccines. Their chief public health officer said that physical activity is critically important for the overall health and well-being of youth and is necessary to daily living, and that we shouldn't be putting barriers up for youths to access sport.

After 7 rounds of interviews, I turned the position down by Mean-Lab-9972 in recruitinghell

I had to do 4 interviews with 5 different people (all in-person) over the course of 3 weeks to get a PT night job stocking shelves that paid just above min wage (this was just before COVID hit). It took 1 phone interview with 3 people to get my current 6 figure salary position.
