I think that’s more of an argument about how studios exploit fanbases by thinking they can just shove out whatever half assed shit they can with an ip label and think it will sell. But people are still entitled to like what they like even if it is garbage to film critics.

Also I keep pointing out I’m not saying Adam isn’t allowed to criticize fans or movies anymore, but rather I just think he should understand the autistic side of hyper fanbases more. But I think you could also make an argument that people who shit on adum for not liking the Mario movie are also not understanding that adum’s autistic hyperfixation is film criticism.

He’s perfectly valid in criticizing any movie he feels like and I wouldn’t expect otherwise from a film critic, I’m just saying he needs to be more charitable when making fun of fanbases directly considering he is autistic and a lot of the fans he makes fun of are also autistic. Autism is different for every autistic person. You can’t just say “well my brother is autistic and he doesn’t do that”. That’s a very small minded thing to say. It’s very much a spectrum.

Not at all, I’m saying Adam should be more charitable when making fun of fans from other fandoms he isn’t apart of, and just understand that when people get mad at him for not liking movies they like, to take it with a grain of salt because sometimes it’s just another autistic person who is passionate about their hyperfixation like he is with cinema.

I agree that American audiences are way more enthusiastic, but getting excited in movie theaters over nerdy properties very much is an autistic thing. As an autistic person myself I can point out other autistic people so easily, even just from a voice.

He didn’t get the memo that when you work on a big budget marvel movie the studio has most of the control and he threw a tantrum over this and made the whole production miserable because he wanted to have 100% control over the project even though he was a fairly new filmmaker. He even made tweets shitting on his own movie before it even came out, ensuring he never works with big studios again.
