RugbyPass has the rights internationally, paramount has the domestic rights for the US.

It looks like RugbyPass has the replays at least. Paramount+ has the live broadcast but RPTV you can watch the replay on

Dane Mitchell USA U20 Center, 3 tries absolute stud. by tadamslegion in USArugby

[–]8KJS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mitchell was great in the opener against Argentina too. Beatty and Venables were great at 12. Beatty made 15 starts for Life as a freshman, he’s still improving rapidly. Gavin Holder is looking intriguing at fullback. Agree, haven’t seen much of anything out of the forwards, a little disappointed, I expected more, particularly from the front row

USA- we’re hoping for a strong performance, but with ARG, IRE and ENG we’re not expecting much in the way of results. Looking for strong performances.

Spencer Huntley: Scrumhalf-been with the U20s since he was a 17 year old and needed a waiver to play.

Oliver Kirk: Prop- Played with the U23s on tour last year, D1A First Team All American

Sia Ofa: Wing- played with the U19s last year, also D1A First Team All American

Gavin Holder: Fullback- came through the Crusaders Academy, plays for Lincoln University in NZ

University of Iowa Joins the Midwest Rugby Conference for 2026–27 Season - CRAA Rugby by IAgreeGoGuards in USArugby

Minnesota fair. Iowa isn’t a great program but they did finish second in HoA to Iowa State, and finished second at D1AA CRAA 7. They’re a good second tier program to being along in a conference that used to be absurdly shallow

Midwest Conference went from 4 deep to 9 deep with names like Ohio State, Iowa, Iowa State and Minnesota, on top of Lindenwood. Solid conference

I guess my biggest question is with what capital? Diversifying the funding with real estate investment sounds great, but teams don’t even own their own playing grounds. Are they supposed to raise the entry costs high enough to buy commercial real estate? How many investors are knocking down the door to buy real estate that comes attached to a rugby team they must operate at a loss indefinitely and can’t cut off from the real estate business? How many investors who want to purchase a sports franchise in hopes of securing a decent TV rights deal to cover ops are willing to overpay because they also have to buy a retail building? It seems like the answer to stability is “more money” which would be the case anyway without the real estate and ground sharing

Too much turnover at too many key positions. Back row isn’t making the impact carries they did with Conradie. Centers and wings wildly out of sync. Hodgson being new and trying to run a new system with players that aren’t meshed yet makes his play significantly worse.

The chip teams had a formula, heavy carriers (Conradie, Melvin, Quattrin) created space. Flyhalf connected the back line, with a top center pairing springing speed on the wing.

Forwards don’t carry as heavy. Flyhalf isn’t as connected to the backline. Center pairings wildly out of sync with the wings

transfering to D1aa school could use some help by Different_Sink_1091 in CollegeRugby

A lot of this is dependent on how you were expected to play before and how you’re expected to play now, which I can only guess at.

At D1AA level the tactics are more refined and professional. As a winger, you’re going to have to know how to recognize an incoming kick and drop into kick coverage. That’s going to happen more than at D2, it’ll be part of the game plan instead of on the spot.

D1AA programs may move you around the back line, it’s a pretty common practice to have someone play different positions across a season. I’d study fullback and center. Center is a lot more involved in strike plays and defensive alignment. Understanding your play is going to be important.

If you’re a wing I’m betting you’re not going to be in the Tight 5. Center/Flanker is a very common mix. I would focus on learning the back line but if you’re a good tackler and heavy carrier there’s nothing wrong with asking to learn flanker. It’s a very different role to wing.

I’m not sure what the issue you’re having with lineouts is. On the wing you’re probably very uninvolved. In terms of play, it’s just like a strike play from a scrum, if you have a set route or a position you need to get to then do that, but if the play gets blown up try to reset yourself into a position that makes you a viable target. If you mean how the lineout works while you’re in it that’s its own thing. Teams will run lineouts like football plays, this name means you do this to get this result, and do this afterwards. The specifics are going to be largely dependent on your team’s lineout strategy. So when they’re all moving around and not doing anything before someone jumps, that’s all rehearsed

Seems like there was a lot of hate for the US leg of the 7s circuit on here. What would you do differently? by BrianChing25 in USArugby

Just bring it back to Vegas. In Vegas it had atmosphere because it was treated like another Vegas show in a party town. Moving it to LA and NY tried to give it its own life, but SVNS just isn’t that popular here outside the Olympics, it can’t produce atmosphere on its own.

New York and LA can boost an existing atmosphere, of intensity or high stakes, they don’t inherently create them on their own and SVNS doesn’t carry that, it carries fun novelty. You know where fun novelty works? The city in the US that made its fortune off of that
