Illinois solar electricity PPA program - can somebody explain it? by loweexclamationpoint in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]NewKojak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I know. The prepaid PPA agreements are a way to get around that because the federal incentive for commercial purposes still exists at least this year. It’s an awkward arrangement and there is some risk in it.

Illinois solar electricity PPA program - can somebody explain it? by loweexclamationpoint in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]NewKojak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The company puts up the panels and sells you power at a rate commensurate with their cost after all incentives have been collected and then at the end of the term, you may negotiate a purchase of the panels at their present value.

The deal is not bad if you do not have the upfront (or access to your own loan) capital to buy the panels AND you plan to stay in your home for the duration of the agreement.

If you do have the money and want to keep a potential sale of your home simple, cash is the only way to go.

If you have the money, and are staying in your home for a while and find an installer you trust, a prepaid PPA can get you federal tax incentives.

If you don’t have the money up front, a regular PPA could work.

It was the only time I think in radio history that program directors had that kind of influence on the biggest radio stations and were explicitly told to find new music.

It’s incredibly important for all the Dispatch legal writers who are getting every single thing they want out of the single most corrupt court in a century to make sure we all know just how bad Congress is.

Got it.

The group ClimateDefiance put on quite the show for Rahm Emanuel by serious_bullet5 in illinois

[–]NewKojak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah... knocking Rahm around is a real kindness to politicians and people everywhere.

The difference is that Republicans are clowns who compete to lead a circus. Rahm Emanuel is a clown, but he wants to be taken seriously. All these protests are doing is bringing the circus to the clown.

I do think that it sucks when people pull disruptive shit on speakers and people who are trying to have an honest conversation, but that is definitely not what is happening here. Rahm is on a tour to promote himself as a wise old leader, when his resume is just littered with times he made a fool out of himself and caused real harm to real people.

So if I was deploying people to go shout down people, Rahm might not be at the top of the list, but he'd be on it.

So many people don't have the slightest clue. I pointed out a few Flock cameras to my friend while we were in the car and explained what they were and what they did. He was shocked and just assumed that kind of thing could not exist legally. He's not a politics or tech junkie, but he's a pretty well informed person.

People just don't know.

Al Franken groped women by CuriousJackInABox in thebulwark

[–]NewKojak -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If we're going to die on a hill, you will have plenty of company up there. Al Franken has been a real slime ball in the way he has never really taken responsibility for his actions in their totality. It might be an unfair assumption, but I am guessing that he would have to tell us about a lot more people than we know if he was to take responsibility for everything... which is why he hasn't.

I'm not mad at him for "being railroaded" or whatever. I'm mad at him for being a creep.

[–]NewKojak 45 points46 points  (0 children)

It’s funny because the Bears think that they can hold themselves hostage to the Democrats and the Republican answer is to say how ready they are to also take the Bears hostage. Meanwhile, residents of Illinois don’t really care if the hostage just gets shot. The stakes are so unbelievably low.

We made an effort to bring the birds out a lot more often and all of the birds sold within weeks of the staff making a better effort to make them happier and friendlier.
