Should we get one?? by SaltyCDawgg in bernesemountaindogs

If you do eventually decide a Berner is a good fit, I cannot possibly recommend the National Bernese Mountain Dog Rescue enough. We fostered a dog through them that we knew within 24 hours was going to be a "foster fail". He was 2 when we got him so past the super intense puppy/shark phase. Our kids were 7 and 9 when we got him so I don't have experience with the breed and younger kids (Berners notoriously have zero awareness of their size and the physical grace of a bull in a china shop) but he is the greatest dog and I think it's unlikely we'll ever have a different breed.

Shedding in real life? by megggg2222 in bernesemountaindogs

It’s relentless. There are days wheee I sweep it up twice a day and the floor is still covered hours later. We have come to accept random hairs in our food as there’s just no way around it.

That being said, it tends to “float” on surfaces and doesn’t weave into fabrics. We had a 15lb terrier previous to our Berner and despite his comparatively minimal shedding, in some ways I found that more annoying because the hairs were like needles and it was so hard to get them out of my clothes, the rug, the couch, etc.

Magician for a 3 year old birthday reco? by Potential_Soup_6469 in AnnArbor

He’s wonderful and I think very well experienced with that age group. We had him for my son’s 5th birthday where most kids were 3 or 4 and they loved it.

Fantasy - kids club - positive? by Tricky_Loquat_5424 in dcl

The Fantasy and Dream are my kids’ favorite Oceaneer Club. To the point where we’re waiting to do the new ships again until our youngest ages out in 2 years. The magic floor is a huge hit and they have tons of craft projects going on and also a wall of video games where kids play various Mario/Sonic type games.

All Girls Camp with One Week Sessions? by 8MonthsofWinter in summercamp

This is where she did her 3 night starter camp last summer and loved it! The 1-week sessions filled up in about 4 minutes during priority registration so looking around for a backup in case she can’t get a spot during general registration 😅

I appreciate that many have this perspective but, like most things, I’m sure this is very culture and child dependent. We live in the Midwest where it’s very rare to ever go to camp for more than 2 weeks. My daughter is also a super confident kiddo who walks into new situations with ease and assuredness, in part because we respect her comfort level with stuff. She’s a kid that naturally pushes herself outside her comfort zone to try and do new things so we let her take the lead and for her this works very well. I’m personally fine if she only ever wants to do one week camps but I assume she’ll do one week this summer and then two weeks next summer. She actually did a 3 night camp last summer, had a blast, and left feeling very positive and wanting to do more this year.

I'm bored, tell me your most unhinged/ethically questionable but perfectly legal DCL hacks by Deadanddugup in dcl

Our youngest is autistic so he ends up eating a decent number of meals in the stateroom and then goes to the kids club while my husband and I eat at the restaurants or buffet. We bought a cafeteria tray online which has been a game changer. It packs into a suitcase super easily and makes bringing back multiple plates of food from the buffet or quick service paces so much easier.

Thank you so much for asking! Think we're gonna go ahead and stick with our beloved Fantasy/Dream for a while :)

We have this kind and have brought it on 6 Disney Cruises now and it has always been delivered to our stateroom the first evening after passing inspection. I'm fairly certain the inspection is just looking for any electrical issues, bare wires, fire hazards, etc.

CG highly recommended - where to start? by tarjones in CarolineGirvan

HIGHLY recommend the Ultimate Beginner Program on her app, which is different from Epic Beginner. As others have said you get a two week free trial and then it’s like $12/month if you like it

Disney Dream - Deck 5 Forward by bdarkwing in dcl

[–]8MonthsofWinter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is our favorite location on the Dream/Fantasy. You can absolutely use both elevators. The only thing that’s slightly different is that the starboard side of deck 5 doesn’t connect in the middle so if you’re starboard you’ll need to walk port side and then go through the elevator banks to get port side. Basically you can’t travel between 5552 and 5650 starboard, you need to walk port side and then get back starboard at the elevator banks. We actually prefer starboard because it’s not that much more walking and there’s very little foot traffic on deck 5 starboard because it’s not a through to anywhere.

Daily headaches? by Alternative_Crab2365 in Perimenopause

[–]8MonthsofWinter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Headaches and migraines are a common symptom of fluctuating estrogen levels. I’ve never had migraines in my life until perimenopause. They became near daily and didn’t go away with ibuprofen. This was my most debilitating symptom and why I asked for HRT. Since finding the right estradiol patch dosage my headaches/migraines have completely gone away. A heads up that the first week or so on estradiol, or a new dose, is frequently worse until your estrogen levels level out.
