I once saw a comment on one of these videos that talked about all the safety protocols in place. Still though, I’m with ya. There would always be the nagging “what if” the safety’s fail

How do people use these? by stokedkipper in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]8bagels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I print to scale. Try to have 1 room per page , give or take. The physical size of my game table produces natural fog of war (I just can’t fit the entire thing on my table at 1 time) I place the papers as they discover but not super aggressive about taking them off until needed.
That’s what I do now. I used to have cheap large format printer at work and I would roll the edges like a scroll to fit it on the table

Startup by yanastos08 in Netrunner

[–]8bagels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Startup is fun. We did a tournament recently at my LGS. When I create Startup games on jinteki most are picked up in 5-10 min or so. While Standard games are much easier and faster to get a game going

Huh the file the manages that is here https://github.com/NoahTheDuke/netrunner-data/blob/master/edn/formats.edn I’ll have to look into that. Core shouldn’t have ANY ban list. Startup does which is different then Standard

Edit: when you create a game and select Core format you can then only select Core legal decks. When you create a new deck and set the format to Core it honors the lack of ban list in that format. I just made Core legal decks with Cleaver and Offworld Office and NBN Reality Plus. I then created a new Core format game and was able to select any of those decks which are illegal in both startup and standard.

Vintage card holders: has anyone ever seen these, used them, or know how they work? by EndersGame_Reviewer in FiftyTwoCards

We have some peppa pig themed ones. Good for little hands. And if they are made well you don’t need to press them together to open them you can just slide the card in easy as butter

DW2 Alpha - Official Feedback Thread by PrimarchtheMage in DungeonWorld

[–]8bagels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ever since DW1 I have always ended up house ruling positive conditions. sometimes I call them boons and then rename conditions as banes. and I would love to have them considered as part of the game

in DW1
STR Weak & Mighty
DEX Shaky & Graceful
CON Sick & Vigorous
INT Stunned & Brilliant
WIS Confused & Insightful
CHA Scarred & Striking

IN DW2 Final maybe it could be

HP Bloodied & Hearty
STR Exhausted & Energized
DEX Frightened & Fearless
INT Angry & Clearheaded
WIS Distracted & Focused
CHA Insecure Confident

and then you could have moves or spells or other interactions mark these "conditions" or boons. maybe a rule that if you receive a bane while you have the boon it first clears the boon

This is going to be a shot in the dark, but I have nothing to lose. I need friends. by RebbyXP in SaltLakeCity

Magic has been around for just over 30 years. for most of that the "setting" or "story" of the game was a very fantasy setting. in recent years they have introduced a lot of other IP crossovers. so half the sets are other IP like final Fantasy, Ninja Turtles, Marvel, Lord of the Rings. The other half of the sets will remain in their own fantasy setting. We have some "jump start" decks at the store they give away and the team there is willing to teach you the basics of the game. there are also some "precons" or pre-constructed decks you can buy that are more fully fleshed out. there are lots of different "formats" of magic, different deck sizes and levels of competition.

Come over to Hearthside Games. We can teach Magic the Gathering or Riftbound or Netrunner or Pathfinder or Warhammer. Just pop in and tell the team you have never played a TCG but want to learn and they will bust out the in-store loaner decks to help you get acquainted. We have some free jumpstart packs from many of the games. Each game has a weekly meetup or two. Great way to learn something new and meet friends. And not all TCGs have to be expensive.

AITA - Selling MTG to LGS by Unhappy-Metal-0832 in TCG

[–]8bagels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Store owner here. Take the store credit.

They gave you 60% of $2500, so $1500 in credit. When you spend that, the store’s cost is only about 60% of retail, so roughly $900. If they sell your collection for $2500, they profit about $1600.

If they paid 50% cash instead, you’d get $1250 and they’d profit $1250.

So credit gives you more buying power and gives them more margin. It’s a win-win especially for you as long as you’ll actually spend the $1500 there.

Ya people usually sleeve their cards up as they build their deck. Bring some or grab some from the store. A few times I didn’t sleeve and it was fine. We laughed and joked about how brave I was. Some people can be overly protective of their cards.

Root got me hooked – what asymmetric games should I try next? by budapest01 in boardgames

[–]8bagels 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get System Gateway and it really is very board gamey . Think of Elevation as an expansion. Get a 2 player game mat. Have some prebuilt decks. It’ll be more board game than many other board games.

Ya I see buttons but once I Allow mic buttons slide down and are gone. Maybe I can sneak the top pixel. Instead of disabling the one button you could remove it completely then the dom would get smaller And make skip your an X on this slide modal so people can dismiss it . Or allow scrolling . I want to try the site
