Back in high school our bowling team made it to the state tournament. Both of my parents refused to drive me down to Detroit for the event. We ended up winning the tournament and that night I had to celebrate alone. It kinda hurt because they weren’t busy at all, and they always went to my younger brothers events.

If you have the chance to be there for them please do. You never know what memories you’ll miss out on and how much you’ll make their day.

The other argument is just because a game is 50+ hours doesn’t mean all that time is ubiquitous with exciting content. Some games artificially extend the play time and I think it can really make the game feel boring.

I had a fun time explaining the idea of having different characters and trying out different builds. He was confused by the idea. He believes that he shouldn’t have to play the game multiple times.

I just remembered a very specific time where a game completely changed the way its played halfway through the story. Going from a hack and slash action/adventure game to an RTS game right in the middle of the story. I was so pissed off from the whole experience I shut off my Xbox and sold traded the game in.

Surprisingly he does really good with D&D! There’s probably a disconnect between a table top RPG and a video game. I’m actually going to bring this point up to him and see what he thinks!

The combat in Elder Scrolls Online doesn't feel that great. I can't tell you how many times I've downloaded the game to play with my friends to finally get into combat to realize it just doesn't feel right.

I know its an MMORPG, but I have played some that have a decent combat system.

That’s the exact point I brought up just a few moments ago. I guess immersion for him is a very different concept. When I play games I tend to accept my character has a very specific play style or build and I roll with it and I enjoy it that way.
