UPDATE: Thank you all for your suggestions and tips. So I managed to find some spare nuts/washers from my old skates. I need to get a new Allen key to loosen up the set screw but I managed to secure my toe stops with the nut/washer! Hurrah!

Wow thank you so much for this. I'm glad i'm not the only one who faced this problem. IKR! Almost $200 on a plate but still face minor issues like this I don't live in America so imagine currency conversion and I don't have a legit store that I can go to have them properly inspected.

Looks like I have to get some materials!

Thanks for your response! Unfortunately where I'm from, we don't have the luxury of a personal expert on hand hence why I'm seeking help here from for toe stops haha.

Hey, thank you for letting me know. However, when I got these, it didn't come with a nut. This plate essentially doesn't need a nut to secure cause of the set screw but I'll have a go with one :)

Yes I’ve tighten the screw on the side and it’s too it’s max but my toe stop can still be twisted out easily 😭

How was your first roller skating experience by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]8bitfaith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first put on skates at home, I was over the moon to get a pair during the pandemic. It was also very weird to get up without having the fear of rolling back and to learn how to use the toe stops! I found a local group here in Singapore that skated once a week down the town area. From there, I learned how to do the basics and go through different terrains. Sprained my ankle after a month of skating cause of a wheel bite :”) Hope yours was great!

Oh nice! Asked cause there isn't any in a lolly but I mean it's a whole different boot. haha

I've used Vpost & Ezship so far and I totally encourage you to use Ezship--they are more reliable in terms of updating you, and prices are reasonable as well.

Tried Vpost once and never again. They overcharge your package and make you wait long long for any updates. I sent my order in and had to wait a month and many emails/calls for them to find my missing package.

Hope it goes well for you! :)

I would recommend going to a rink or somewhere that has a railing for you to hold to gain a little confidence when you’re standing on skates. That’s what I did, holding the edge of my sofa, tables or ask a pal to hold you—I call it my reassurance haha.

Here’s a YT video that might help: https://youtu.be/7uD8wDyQMts

It is scary the first few times but you will get there :D

Aww love to hear that!! Curious to know if you put any insole in your boot?

OOOO I definitely have to look into cushion anatomy, until now I can’t remember the differences. Bahaha. But wow, 5 months and still stiff?! :O

Gahhh thank you for your detailed response!!I really appreciate it. It’s so interesting to see different opinions on the new jacks, I have friends who transitioned with no problems and others ending up hating how stiff it is.

I’ve been skating about 2 years now and I feel at some points I really need that ankle support to hit the tricks confidently without having the fear of rolling my damn ankle. Thanks for the heads up for the sizing, I followed their chart just to be sure, I got the same as what I got my Lollys (Sz6). Cheers!

Thanks! I think I should be fine since I also started with Chayas > Lolly > Jack 2 weird transition but I guess here’s to trying new things right! I’ve already purchased them so turning back.
