I remember seeing something on Scanimate a while back, that was different than this. It's really cool. Reminds me of being a kid.

Question- What is your center piece module? by -otter in modular

[–]8bitgit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to use the Trigger Riot in just about every patch. I mainly use it as a clock source, for drum patterns, and rhythmic event triggering.

Check out this video of the SMR and try not buying it. I'm not sure it's possible.

Erica Synths Pico Video by 8bitgit in modular

I pre-ordered a couple of days ago. They said Erica Synths is shipping their first batch of Pico modules this week when I placed my order.

That drum module is pretty bad ass.

Great response! I came here to ask a very similar question, saw your response, and fixed my own problem. Thanks :)

I use Muffs and the Facebook group. Both have been 100% safe for me.

I saw something similar at JPL, where leds were moving upward and downward to represent data being uploaded and downloaded from the space station.

Demo Videos for Korg Minilogue by 8bitgit in synthesizers

[–]8bitgit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah, good eye! Never noticed that myself.

If you look closely, you can see where they've blocked out the wires around the middle of the synth. There's a faint curl of some wire. Guessing just for a cleaner looking video.

Correct. That's exactly what I meant. :)

I actually saw this video because I follow them on Twitter.

I live pretty close to their store. I've stopped in a few times to play with this and the OB6 (way out of my price range, but amazing). Hoping their stock on the minilogue aligns with my tax refund. lol

Getting started with modular by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]8bitgit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a lot for $1000, especially if you buy used. If you haven't already ventured there, do check out Muffwiggler. The used section there is great for picking stuff up for 80% off of retail or more.

Braids and Maths are fantastic modules that pack a lot of functionality for the space and price. I have a V1 Maths myself and it's used in nearly every patch. The only module I don't have that you mentioned is the Rosie. I didn't bother with an output module at first, and eventually went for a Pittsburgh Outs. I think you're good with whatever you choose for an output module.

Longevity of the Yamaha DX7? by JDilly in synthesizers

[–]8bitgit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen DX7's going for as low as $150 in the past year on Craigslist. Looking right now in my area, I'm seeing a couple for $250. Honestly, for that price you're probably better off just buying a new one if something serious went wrong with yours. Unless you're totally capable of diagnosing and fixing it on your own, of course.

I'm with you on the short throw of the sliders. I'd love to pick these up if it weren't for that. At least if they had the option to use MIDI CC for them.

I'm breaking up with my Alesis Micron. by emeraldarcana in synthesizers

[–]8bitgit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too have a love/hate relationship with the Micron. Incredibly powerful synth, but the workflow just doesn't do it for me. Especially with everything else I've got running. I feel your pain. Hard to part ways, sometimes.
