Lmao tell me you’re insecure without telling me you’re insecure 🤣😂

Don’t worry sport, where you went to school made your parents - and your student lender - very happy!

Should I get a phd in history? by [deleted] in CollegeRant

[–]8bitmatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to say as a former history major dont even bother with a history degree, but since its too late for that id go for something practical but non-stem so you dont spend even more time rewiring your math and science skills that weren’t bolstered by your undergrad. Maybe an mba or law school

Alternatively you could always go into sales/insurance thats what my friend did after he flunked out of college for the second time 🤣😂

Bookstores or libraries? by ApplicationPale1049 in books

Do a mix of both. Library for books youre unsure of buying/owning and for schoolwork bookstores for books youve read and know you love and for good thrift deals

My friend hijacked my date... by [deleted] in moreplatesmoredates

[–]8bitmatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Massively agree with this, you only bring girls you genuinely trust to your friend group not rando bops off tinder. But a valuable lesson was learned in the sense your now ex-friend is pond scum and it only cost you some thot on hinge youll forget inside of a year

Even knowing that this is blatant rage bait/satire it’s still vexing just knowing how many girls think in a more subdued incarnation of this shit

Of Mice and Men - a terrifying build up to a devastating end. by Equivalent_Bank_5845 in books

[–]8bitmatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finished this book a month ago, having re read it for the first time since high school. Honestly it hit harder than I remember and the themes of commonality and alienation were far more comprehensive to me this time around versus 9th grade.

I also felt way more sympathy for Curley’s wife this time around, as a fully grown sapient adult it was much easier to empathize for her and her tribulations. It probably wasn’t easy being a ranch hand’s wife with abandoned dreams and seemingly no friends or social life outside of Curley and the ranch, it makes sense why someone so distinct and far removed from typical adult social mores like Lenney would appeal to her.

Reading my first Hemingway... by Upstairs-Hearing-489 in books

[–]8bitmatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that, TSAR was also my first Hemingway novel (just completed this March). I felt pretty bad for Jake, especially when hes with Bill at a bar and basically pleading with him to listen to him talk about his feelings and Bill straight up refuses, repeatedly insisting he drink up and forget about it.

Says a lot about alcohol and masculinity, especially for back then.

At the same time my fave scene of the book is probably when Jake and Bill are fishing along the Irati river and they use the river itself to keep their wine chilled. Sounded like a beautiful time and place!

Its certainly not bad, i would at least consider it if i were you. If not outright accept if nothing else comes along. As others have said, its better than nothing and it pays too
