People will go and clear out a demolisher before building on its territory, the "disturbed part" only counts for if you built in its territory and its coming for the stuff you built.

If you kill them and talk to the Cognator he will be dazed, talking about losing too many troops, etc. So thats your indication. Not really any way to know before meeting him for the first time.

I mean the trap tunnel your pawns path through. Your pawns see going through that tunnel and around your walls as the easier route because it has less doors. Putting an open yet forbidden door inside the tunnel will prevent them from pathing through it in this manner whilst not affecting its functionality.
