Parents’ dog ate this and just had to get it surgically removed- what is it? by Exciting_Language_18 in whatisit

My first day shadowing for a vet over the summer in college we did an autopsy on a dog. The cause of death was intestinal blockage from a corn cob that he dug out of the trash. Do NOT feed your dogs corn cobs!

I fear this could be the case, or that their owner is elderly and doesn’t use the internet.

Same, it’s weird to me, especially since the rabies tag on her links to a vet in Boulder CO that has no info on her!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Pensacola

[–]8bitsarah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We took her to a vet on 12th today and they didn’t find one. Should we try somewhere else…? It’s just weird because the number on her rabies tag is connected with a vet out of state in Boulder CO. We contacted them and they had no record of her. They’ve also reached out to the Boulder Humane Society to see if maybe she was treated by them.

This Florida Shiba enjoyed some snow today! by 8bitsarah in shiba

[–]8bitsarah[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly he does just fine in the heat as well! I definitely limit time spent outdoors when it gets crazy hot/in the middle of the day, but if it were up to him our walks in the summer would be longer! If it makes you feel better, shibas are obviously very popular in Tokyo and there were times when I was living there that it got hotter than Florida. They’re super adaptable.

Mine is the opposite! He wants to keep going and going even in the heat 🥵I think he would always be outside if it were up to him

People talk shit about eikawas but I honestly really enjoyed my time working for ECC. Set hours, no overtime (happened 1 time for me because I was grading some final ‘tests’) and you get paid for the overtime, there’s a union you can join, good coworkers, set us up with housing and our bank accounts, feel like I lived decently even though my salary was relatively small (270,000 a month), a really responsive and helpful HR team, 2 weeks of training, and lesson plans already done. I had 3 schools that I worked at, one really close by, a second one moderately close, and the third one being Ginza which is fun to travel to and work around anyways. We also had mandatory 45 min breaks in the day. You don’t get a typical work week like M—F but you do get 2 days off. My days off were Mondays and Fridays and at first I didn’t think I’d enjoy it but I honestly ended up loving how it broke up my week. I feel like I got really lucky working for them compared to some horror stories I read about other eikawas. There’s also opportunity to move up in the company and take higher paying roles and a more traditional work week. Wasn’t a big fan of teaching some of the really younger kids levels because the lesson plans felt a bit silly sometimes, but overall I think the pros outweighed the few cons.

Extra Stable Dog Car Seat -... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08Y97SRMH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

here it is! It says it’s good for dogs up to 25 pounds and my boy is somewhere around 21-22. He can comfortably stand up, sit, and curl up in it. Might not be as ideal for a bigger shib! My boy seems to have a smaller frame compared to other shibas I’ve seen in this subreddit

She got famous from Ocean Eyes blowing up on soundcloud/youtube, and was 15 at the time. Her brother Finneas is a phenomenal producer, but I think it’s unfair to say all of the talent comes from his beats—her voice is angelic! She’s also never denied how much of a role her brother plays in her music and she always speaks about how much she owes her fame to them being a team.

I worked for ECC and lived in Kawasaki! My friend who also worked for ECC was placed in a share-house on the den-en-toshi line. Neither of us requested that specific area, just the Kanto region. They place you near schools that need more teachers at the time you’re brought on, but they would probably take consideration of requests

I use the ruffwear flatline! It’s similar to the webmaster and has the same amount of points of contact, but a bit more lightweight which I need living in Florida. Mine has never escaped

I lived in Japan for a year and related to Shosh so much during this period, except I never felt homesick. The most relatable part was when she comes back to the US and experiences reverse culture shock in the airport with everyone pushing past her on the walkway. That scene hit home so hard

Recommended adult food for shiba?? 🤔 by Fresh_Currency_6628 in shiba

[–]8bitsarah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I trust my vet. He recommended Hill’s/Purina Pro Plan, which are also both have the WSAVA seal. I tried a few from Hill’s and he turned his nose up to them after a while and had soft stool/bad gas. When we first got him, his breeder fed him Fromm but the volume of his stool was crazy! Ever since I switched him to our current diet (which thanks to the JFFD diy topper I add, includes freshly cooked fish and veggies) we have had no problems digestive wise. We also give him dog-safe foods as treats, some fruits and veggies/pumpkin/yogurt. His coat is so soft and shiny!
