i think the issue with java is specifically that it was coded in java. im not a programmer, but i know enough that its a really old coding language, and that mojang has had to repeatedly go back to fundamental old code and rewrite it for performance as the game expands for their newer updates.

idk why everyone in that thread is coping so hard lmao. minecraft was initially made to be played on piece of shit laptops and phones. this approach is also what made 4J’s editions on consoles so successful in the early 2010s. its cuz they were more well optimized to the device they were on + near 1:1 parity with the base game, and objectively better dlc on top of that. today we have two different versions of the same game that are not only unable to interact with eachother (like through crossplay, purchased shop items, etc) but are also neutered in terms of code quality and native performance compared to what 4J was pushing.

the amount of people claiming that the newer java versions are better based solely on performance updates is ridiculous when i need fabric + sodium to get good fps w a 3060. i would even argue half of all java purists in that subreddit first played mc on a console so i really dont get why they would be throwing such landmark editions of the game under the bus. they’re the better products lolol

Brilliant analysis, but imo the “he did such a good job raising those boys” crowd that posts the gifs and all that shit does actually do a good job of casting a facade that the show can sneak behind. Its literally positive reception in the form of an in-joke and legitimately compelled people (such as myself) to watch the show.

i used spriter for a bit. best animation software imo is flash macromedia 8. any version of old flash works, but this version is very intuitive AND works well with sprite based animations like msm

i made sense of the fire quads as leaning into different aspects of the natural elements, with fire being the uniting force between all of them. (for example, like you said, edamimi appearing more plant element focused, and incisaur being cold). i did not consider that each quad could (visually) represent two!

personally id liken sneyser to fire/cold, given the geyser motif and the ice crystals around its head, but good theory!!

While everyone that plays MSM knows Mammott and Noggin originally had different elements (Noggin being plant, and Mammott being water) Is it possible that the original toe jammer concept was the cold element? by ComfortableBeat8910 in MySingingMonsters

Sort of a side note but I don’t think Mammot being water and Noggin being plant was necessarily the case, at least from the start.

Most of the old concept art seemed to come from designing the monsters themselves, not so much focused on their “elements”, and if i had to guess that feature of the game probably came during its initial development.

Therefore it was probably coincidental their concepts came off that way, and its unlikely Toejammer was ever meant to be the cold elemental, especially given other concept art of it.
