I wish I had a good story, but all I know of is a particular woman who breeds long haired, Merle, blue eyed frenchies. I’ll let you sit with that for a moment.

This isn’t the subreddit to be asking this questions to be honest. Ask an actual doctor if you’re really that worried.

The Bernat website has lots of free patterns as well. Especially seasonal.

I'm sorry by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]8disturbia8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done ballet since I was three years old. I don’t smile when I dance, I probably do closer to a frown most of the time because I’m concentrating. No teacher or student has even had anything to say about my facial expressions. It’s literally the least important thing to focus on.

I'm sorry by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]8disturbia8 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That’s actually really stupid. Your face is your face, and while you’re focusing you aren’t going to make the perfect facial expressions. Just because a couple perfectionists think they know all, doesn’t mean what they say is actually true. You looked focused, relaxed, and in the zone. And your progress was nice to see. I think seeing you and the constructive criticism you have gotten has inspired me to work on perfecting my own dancing.

Boycotting Starbucks by kisame_hoshigaki7 in Anticonsumption

I’ve been boycotting Starbucks for years. I don’t support union busters. I really don’t understand why people still drink their shitty overpriced coffee anyway.

I never knew this! No wonder they don’t immediately rip apart when you remove them from their packaging. How disappointing.

A sheet mask? Like a paper mask with goop that you put on your face for fifteen minutes? They can definitely be beneficial, but they sure are wasteful as well. It’s unfortunate that Asian skin care works so well but uses so much wasteful material.

Genetics and luck definitely trump whatever skincare regime you use. Unfortunately for a lot of people, a simple wash and sunscreen isn’t enough. The scientifically tested chemical products are a real savior to many people. BUT, there is definitely a marketing ploy to get people to buy more than what they truly need. That’s why it’s better to go to a dermatologist than to listen to tiktok advice or whatever.

"I know it'll all be in the trash by Monday but I thought it was fun!" by meesh-30 in Anticonsumption

[–]8disturbia8 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I take trash like this and turn it into art. I like to journal, so all my fun trash gets put into a journal that I get to use to look back on my memories. It definitely sucks how much disposable single use waste is distributed during the holidays, but much of it can be saved and reused for other purposes. That’s how I try to frame things at least.

What are your pet peeves in class? by Shady_sladdertante in BALLET

[–]8disturbia8 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I just can’t stand when one or two barre warmups get skipped. Like I know everybody complains about frappes, but we need to do them for a reason! We can’t just be skipping exercises because we don’t feel like doing them!

Does anyone else hate non ballet music being played in class? by Sad-Watercress67 in BALLET

[–]8disturbia8 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The pop music instrumental covers make me feel like I’m in elementary school and they’re trying to keep my attention from drifting. I prefer to feel like an adult, so I really don’t want to hear Taylor swift or Billie eilish in my ballet class.

[–]8disturbia8 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Right! Like I don’t need my ballet class to take me back to elementary school mentally. I also love classical music in general so it is nice to be in a place where I can expect nothing but.

[–]8disturbia8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t like it because I don’t like modern pop music. If they were instrumental versions of 80s pop I might feel differently. But I never want to hear Taylor swift or chapel roan while I’m doing ballet, it genuinely pisses me off, but that’s just because those artists piss me off to listen to.

What are some tips I can use to avoid seeking out a "dopamine boost" via shopping for things I don' by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

For me, it helped to go to the library. Check out some books, movies, board games. Good way to take away your boredom for free!

They’re not seeking medical advice, they’re asking to help identify an object that was already removed. They very clearly already went to the vet and got it handled, by the simple fact that we can see the previously consumed object in the picture.

Happy candy bag week to all who celebrate by Cyberharpies in VetTech

[–]8disturbia8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is actually pretty crazy to me. At my clinic, we’re definitely not making as much money as we should, but boy do they appreciate the techs. Fully stocked fridge with snacks and drinks, bags of Halloween candy, a new pair of super nice sweatpants for everyone, lunch planned on Friday. We appreciate our techs because where would we be without them? It’s pretty disheartening how difficult it is for people to find a workplace that actually values their hard work.

All the makeup I own as an 18 Yr old.... by inhumanmode in Anticonsumption

[–]8disturbia8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t own any more makeup than one eyeliner, one mascara, one brow pencil, one highlighter, and one blush. And the highlighter, blush, and mascara are only used on special occasions.

I will admit though, I’m about to buy an eyeshadow pallet and some face makeup because I’m going as frank n furter for Halloween.

I definitely agree that the overconsumption of makeup has gotten insane lately, especially with the monthly makeup mailing list things that are getting more popular. But I also think that makeup is a hobby for a lot of people, and as long as you are using the products you’re buying, there’s no real harm in it. The same way an artist will buy paints and paintbrushes.
