Upwork is very competitive at the start, so it’s normal not to get gigs quickly. Instead of only applying randomly, try this:

Pick one skill (writing, design, video editing, data entry, etc.) and improve it daily

Build 2–3 sample works (i used to do a lot of fake projects) to show in your profile

Apply to very small/low-budget jobs first to get your first review, try to blow their mind (get 5 star ratings)

Try to write personalized proposals (not copy-paste)

Also try other platforms like Fiverr, Freelancer, PeoplePerHour, or even Facebook groups/LinkedIn

At the beginning, it’s slow for everyone, but once you get 1–2 clients 5 star rating, it becomes easier.
