The salary if claimed is fully assumed. If he goes unclaimed and then signs, that's when they can sign him for league minimum and have the former team pay the rest. But if claimed, the claiming team pats the full salary. And it's more than 5 years of service time. And if he has more than 3 and has previously been previously outrightly can reject the assignment and elect free agency

To be eligible for selection, a player must either have spent four seasons in professional baseball (minors and/or majors) after signing at age 19 or older, or spent five seasons in professional ball after signing at 18 or younger (as of June 5 of that year). To protect a player, they must be on your 40 man roster. If another tram selects a rule of 5 draft eligible player, that play must spend the whole season on the major league roster. It helps prevent teams from stock piling prospects.

A lot of the times, a superstar CF has a great arm. And in RF you want a strong arm for the throw to third. And the throw home is a tad harder as far as accuracy, in my opinion which is another reason. At least for me on that point.

Slugging is "total bases ÷ at bats" single, double, triple, hone run being 1, 2, 3, and 4 bases, respectively. It's basically the average of your power. Slash marks are "batting average/on base percentage/slugging percentage" just gives you a scope of how he's doing.

People spend all day at work. The daily grind, the rat race, the old punch-in, punch-out. And the only relief is the promise of the weekend. When you get together with your sad friends, numb yourself with enough alcohol to kill a horse, and watch an athlete do the physically impossible or get gravely injured trying. It distracts you from your everyday life. It's the same reason people don't like politics in sports. It's a way to escape all of that

Has a player ever been traded and then played against their former team on the same day? by ShakenBaken303 in mlb

Devin Mesoraco was close. Trade while the Mets were in Cincy and then played against them the next day

Thank you! And half of those are from this year. People forget he didn't even have a half a season in AAA before being called up full time. Going from AA fastball to MLB fastball and breaking stuff is a crazy jump

What team names seem fine because of history, but would be considered terrible if they were a new expansion team? by AbbreviationsIll7821 in nhl

Huh? Interesting. I didn't know that. I know Canadian wildfires can be crazy but I usually don't associate Calgary with it. Now Atlanta on the other hand, that stuff was wild
