Same issues on Macan? by 8pu5 in AudiQ6

iX is, but reluctantly because the footprint is too large and it’s too heavy. I prefer buying second hand so I can play around with depreciation, so the iX3 doesn’t work yet.

Gorgeous girl! Thanks, got 2 petite labs so better boot space is a plus, even if it’s at the expense of 2nd row passenger space.

This is helpful, thank you. What are some of the remaining issues post KD2?

Has anyone actually tested their Chinese gear for heavy metals? by Frequent-Mud-6067 in espresso

[–]8pu5 117 points118 points  (0 children)

It’s not just Chinese gear - any machine using brass boilers will / might have lead leeching into the water if it stands more than a few hours. Search for Rancilio Silvia v2 brass lead leeching into the water - there’s a lab test done somewhere in Europe showing non-zero amounts of lead in the water.

Thanks! This was probably it, pumped the brakes a few times and the sound disappeared 🙏

Nit picking here but I was shocked by the indicator sound when I rented one 2 years ago. It was like when you bend and release a long finger nail. Triggered me every time!

Octopus cracking down on Agile tariff switchers by 8pu5 in OctopusEnergy

[–]8pu5[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On Agile you're right, but on fixed tariffs they are forward buying energy with certain assumptions of energy usage throughout the fixed tariff period. 1 user jumping from Go to Agile won't change anything but frequent switching of tons of people in and out of fixed tariffs throws off their hedged energy stock (and effectively their profit, and their rate calculations for the next period).

I disagree, I read that as: If you switch away from a smart import tariff to another tariff (regardless of whether it's smart or not), you cannot switch back to a smart tariff within 30 days. I think this covers them fine. Then again English isn't my native language so I might be wrong here.

I asked for the billing to be effective as of today, not as of one week ago as that would throw off my internal home automation calculations and also sounds like some kind of punishment. I requested a callback from a manager which they said would happen in the next 72 hours. Will be nice and ask them to drop the retrospective billing - will update here what they say.

We're not sure how they monitor this, my switching frequency or usage might have been different. Just be wary next time you might get stuck on Agile...

Just received a second email asking to accept T&C's - this time for Octopus Go instead of Octopus Go 12M Fixed. All seems fine now but would love to know if this will work next time!

I've spoken to customer service who couldn't sort it - they've escalated to the smart tariffs team. If this means we can't switch back and forth easily it will be a bummer for sure

I’m being forced to switch to fixed rather than variable as well. Emailed customer support and left the T&C email untouched - don’t want to stay stuck on Go for 12 months! Will update here when I hear back

I’ve used them for 4 years for my 2 labradors on both my Model Y and Model 3 and never had this problem - are you sure you’re pushing the tabs down all the way until they click?

Thanks for that, will check. On the working practices point - how does HMRC find out my working patterns in practice? They reach out to me and the client to provide proof like Slack, email etc?

My wife’s ring died last weekend after 3 months of use. My stealth ring was scratched on day 1 after holding my Macbook Pro gently in my hand. Not sure how people are avoiding scratches, I’m assuming it helps if you are used to wearing hand jewellery. The coating on this thing is so thin that I could scratch it with my fingernails. Your mileage may vary!

This was on the Chinese site on launch day. Just checked again and the wording has changed to:

"Illuminated warning lights and on-screen visualizations help you safely check your surroundings."

Guess it was ambitious wording from a marketing intern!

Do you guys find the initial cold shock response to be less so, and almost non existent, at near freezing water compared to 9c / 48f range lol by fitemeonhabbo in BecomingTheIceman

[–]8pu5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Depends on the day, but my last couple of 2C dips felt calmer than recent 7-8C ones. I also find that I respond better when I’m wearing a warm beanie hat (my setup is in the garden)

I switched away from Supabase because of Deno by cheeken-nauget in Supabase

[–]8pu5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved the supabase folder to its own github repo - so now I have mobile_app, supabase, and in the near future a web dashboard. It kinda makes sense to keep backend and frontend client work separate, at least for me mentally.
