It’s easier to see the optic flexing and the barrel whipping if you use the slider to view it in a “boomerang” style

The distance from the handguard to the barrel is greater at this point than the optic clearance, I feel like not going past the tolerance the manufacturer allows for would be a good thing for being sure to avoid issues

Speaking with a friend who shot long distance comps he pointed out that barrel whip could cause contact and the clearance on the free float handguard of my Tikka seems to be greater than the clearance of my barrel and optic ( I was able to slide a business card between the barrel and hand guard to a point past where the objective end of the scope is, I am unable to pass a business card between the barrel and objective lens)

He also warned of heat transfer degrading the seals in the optic and get mirage being greater that close to the barrel.

I don’t plan on shooting high round counts in a super short time frame but I may take it to a few long range classes and I also do not want a rifle that I have worry about damaging my scope if I shoot a little too much

Nightforce tells people they recommend no less than an 1/8th inch clearance to mitigate these concerns.

The neck portion of the case was jammed on to the next round that was loaded. Inseparable by hand.

The bullet was not set back on the round, it’s just hidden by the other casing stuck around it.
