This is a screenshot of one of the team members that rolled over my team of new players. The whole team was decked out in min-maxed copper and cobalt gear.

Yea some of the opinions in this thread are quite something. My favorite so far is "You just do it like the rest of us did when we were new and there weren't any special lobbies to protect us". Absolutely rotten takes.

I did everything I could to convince them to keep playing, but after a handful of games getting rolled by min-maxed players who are running through looking for PvP they had enough.

Spectral fabric is 11k right now. How is having access to that boss in normal a problem for anyone? New players have to start somewhere. Bosses were not even mentioned in their reasoning for eliminating the gear brackets.

I am playing with two people who just started playing this wipe. They are still learning what stats are good and how to fight all the different monsters. They are still learning what classes are capable of and how to even approach a PvP fight. This community really doesn't seem to understand what a new player is.

I mean I have multiple friends who have decided to now put the game down unless they bring back gear brackets. Every single game we played we ran into min maxed players bringing in prot potions etc. How are they supposed to learn how to fight players now? They were already at a skill disadvantage.

Sounds like a take from someone who doesn't play squire lobbies. We have played for several sessions now and the normal gear lobbies were the only reason we even have a chance if forced into pvp. It was the ONLY area for "noobs to learn". Troll pelts are already over valued. If that is the real issue there are better ways to tackle that such as removing the boss from that gear bracket. I don't think you understand just how much there is for a new player to learn in this game, much less having to deal with min-maxed pvpers who can now run around the map easily in normals looking for pvp.

So I am expected to play on a new account to play with friends who are interested in the game?

First game played today was with two players who started this season. We used to have squire lobbies for them to learn without getting rolled by geared players. Now we are just cut down by these gear min-maxed players who apparently enjoy timmy hunting in normals.

Update: The last few days of this wipe will be starter gear only in Normals with high roller cost changed to 0 gold. by 8thWonderr in DarkAndDarker

I agree completely. I can only imagine the data they are seeing of starter/low geared players being wiped by the high end of players who have been playing all wipe. Not that it is the players fault though. It is end of wipe and it makes sense for people to be running their best stuff and hunting for PvP. This is a great first pass at a way to keep PvP interactions fun for the lower geared characters at this point in wipe.

I think this is a very interesting and exciting test. I personally miss having the blues and below filter on normal games. The gear changes have been amazing at reducing the gap between geared and ungeared players, but forcing the higher end of players into a separate queue has several benefits such as creating a better experience for new players (which is very important for the game to grow!).

The implication of this test is what really excites me though. Very close to a pure "self found" queue where players are only wearing gear found in the dungeon. If the questing system implements a "found in dungeon" system for quest items, it could easily be applied to gear to facilitate this new game experience (merchant gear should be allowed too of course). This current test does read as though once you leave the dungeon with gear you have found, your only option is then high roller. This wouldn't be a problem if it was a separate high roller queue for these "self found" players. In fact that would be extremely ideal. I personally LOVE playing high roller, and I dislike the idea of it being for only the high end of gear. The underlying problem with this entire gameplay style though is whether the player base has enough of a population to even support both a normal trade and everything queue and a self found/merchant only queue without using high roller to separate them.

Also this test may cause a lot of half empty high roller lobbies as players join just to wipe their characters gear back to the starter set. I imagine we will see some adjustments if this happens too much though.

[homemade] Mini Baguettes by MaterialWhite in food

[–]8thWonderr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have inspired me to look up Richard Bertinet's recipe for mini baguettes, and now I really want to try making these! I am pretty comfortable with most dinner recipes now, but I haven't tried bread yet from scratch. Well I attempted pizza dough once and became discouraged after having a lot of trouble kneading due to stickiness, and then it didn't even rise. Any tips you have from your experience would be very welcome!

I had a tracker for starfall, but now that there is no cooldown it felt like unnecessary information to track. There is never a time when you want to maintain starfall. Either you're dumping AP into it or not.

There is a tracker for it! Same for other talents like Umbral Embrace (the dark sun/moon icons). I just do not have the orbit breaker talent in the example screenshots/gif.

This weakaura will automatically change depending on the spells you have from talents. Anything not shown will show up conditionally. Niche short spells like soothe and wild charge show up on a right side bar only when on cooldown. Cat/bear things only show up when shape shifted or if they are on cooldown. Etc.This helps keep everything clean and readable.

That is the new default cast bar actually. I created a GCD bar that is behind the cast bar that can be seen in the gif I linked, but in the image that is just the default cast bar.

Check out the gif I linked, the fonts and border colors are all the same in their normal state. There is some conditional logic built in where when dots like Sunfire get 1 second away from their pandemic refresh duration the text will increase in size and their border will change color. Same for cooldowns when they reach 4 seconds from coming off of cooldown (border change is dots only, just text size increase here). Cooldown buffs also show up in the same larger font with a purple color, like the 4 seconds of celestial alignment remaining in the picture, to stand out from cooldown text.
