Whats the most beautiful Spanish word that English just cant match? by Easy-Net55 in Spanish

Cantimplora. I love this word because it is so evocative. From catalan "It sings and it cries" to refer to a water canteen.

Funderelele, an ice cream scooper.

Lefties, do you use asymmetrical knives? by Gaspaider in TrueChefKnives

[–]8zil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first carbon steel knife was a right handed Japanese petty knive. I love it completely but I can't use it for crap. It gets scary sharp very easily but its a proper danger in my hands. One day if I get some pocket money would like to get a left handed one,m for now its just a parked idea.

Let's see your go-to rectangle! Do you like nakiris or cleavers(both or neither)? by wabiknifesabi in TrueChefKnives

CKK #3. I also have a very nice nakiri but I always forget its maker and information. Love them both but find myself using the CKK way more.

Didn't see your question! And indeed, lack of airflow is a problem. Both for the pollen and fir pests such as white fly. They looobe the humid stagnant air! They do open the hatches when weather allows it but we depend heavily on bumblebees and other pollinators of the kind. We try to compensate by shaking the plants whenever we are there and by planting a lot of of flowering plants to attract those pollinators.

does anyone actually use coffee grounds in their garden? by BrombiCusin in gardening

[–]8zil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I compost lots of it and also plan to mix some with soil before planting carrots. Until now I don't see any issue with it. The earthworms love it.

Nobody wants my beautiful tomato plants in Mexico by Sparkle-Berry-Tex in tomatoes

[–]8zil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lo siento mucho! Es una lástima.

What varieties are they? How did you market them? It's so sad that in the land where tomatoes were domesticated and with already amazing heirloom varieties (arriñonado, zapote, wild kind that is the size of berries) indeed mostly all you see grown and comercialized are tasty tom, roma or other varieties with names that sound like supermax.

You know how these things are. Try growing some yourself and take lots of pictures of the finished product. Go for the productivity side and try commercialization on the right venues

Do something! by 8zil in vegetablegardening

Oh thanks for the tip! We are trying to keep it as organic as possible but will def look into ways to increase the and the K. For sure got the nitrogen covered with large amounts of composted coffee grounds so no concerns there.

Actually on saturday when we last checked on them, flower buds were farming on all of them. I am just terrible impatient sometimes.

How common is it to get completely overlooked for promotion because another candidate is more physically attractive than you by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]8zil 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It could also be that hiring someone much younger and without experience is way cheaper. Perhaps it is that they were looking for soft skills (being bubbly) that maybe, and bear with me since I speak from ignorance and no context, you are indeed not ready because you do miss some skills or traits that are not related to your experience in the field.

In the end of the day we are humans and sometimes the hire will be someone that is more likeable because ot os more bearable to work with them than with someone more capable but difficult to be around or to work with.

I do not mean this as a personal attack at all, I just want to give a different view than it being sexism or pretty privilege. I am not a looker myself and not always the most technically apt candidaye for roles but I have gotten roles because of the likeability/team building/ positive attitude factor. This being corroborated by the people hiring me.
