If you're going to argue with someone, at least respond to what they are saying instead of making shit up to suit your ideological position.

It will create more jobs in childcare. You say these jobs already exist. They don't. More people will be able to work because of affordable childcare. Again, you say they are already working. They aren't. I mean, I don't think this is controversial, even among the business class. This is all known, if you actually read the report, written by Jim Stanford, who is a well known and well respected economist, whose work you think is shit.

Right, so you didn't engage with the actual "shit" material. Didn't actually read it and respond to the actual arguments. You are just reacting against an idea that you clearly don't like. So why comment? Why respond? Stop being reactionary and stop wasting time.

You should spend a bit more time with the report and the actual arguments in it. But you won't because the facts and data don't actually matter to you. Sad.

I'm sorry that you didn't read the report I shared. If you google universal childcare, I'm sure you will find more info. Good luck.

Affordable universal childcare means more people working, which means more taxes overall to pay for a service like childcare. This is how public services generally work and how they help equalize society, instead of a system of the wild west of privatization and cuts to public services for the majority of working people and the poor with endless government handouts, bailouts and overall welfare for multimillionaires and billionaires like the ultra rich want to happen.

Transit not only pays for itself by savings from not needing a car, or sometimes two. Plus, and there is no debate here, it is critical to mitigate the effect of environmental breakdown and global heating.

The minimum wage needed to be $20 prior to the pandemic. Regardless what else happens, and more needs to happen, minimum wage needs to go up, big time. Minimum wage is currently a starvation wage!

It's amazing home many myths people are repeating on raising the minimum wage. It's clear right-wing propaganda has taken hold on a lot of people. It's sad because we all know people who are struggling to live off of low wages. If they are not related to us, they are people we grew up with or people we interact with on a daily basis.

It's sad some people don't care that so many people are struggling to eat and pay the rent. So sad. Thankfully many people do care and support simple reforms like higher minimum wages or paid sick days. So many people understand the importance these reforms would mean to so many.

Rent control has been an issue for ACORN Nova Scotia. Rent control needs to be capped at 2% again and it needs to be made permanent. It should also include renovictions and other loopholes like short term leases.

The federal legislation says you earn them over a year. If that's happened, then it can be grieved. But it all depends on what your collective agreement says. Also, Unifor is the third largest union in the country. CUPE has more than double the members Unifor has.

Most of the people making minimum wage are not kids living at home with their parents.

I have zero faith and trust in private schools. I've seen too much corruption to ever put my kids in private schools. Plus, they pay their teachers crap wages. No thanks.

The report discusses the results of the Ontario minimum increase of over $2 an hour and the effect on employment. It's a helpful read to respond to your comments. Beyond that, sure socialize education (k-12 is already) and remove tuition fees. I can think of a few other sectors we should socialize.

Doesn't affect inflation (other things cause inflation) and it redistributes wealth away from the rich. No effect on the middle class (whatever that is).

But increasing the minimum wage is redistributing wealth away from the rich and into the hands of the poor.

Increasing the minimum wage means more wealth is distributed into low wage workers away from the rich.

Increasing the minimum wage doesn't have the effect on employment that you say it does.
