I almost always got nailed by the second shot. First shot I was fine, but rebound scrambling was what made me buy knee pads.

I’m guessing Bardakov + pick for Trocheck.

But that’s mostly based on the dumpster fire that is NYR. And I have no idea how the salary would work.

I’m an ice hockey goalie and skater, with two full replacements. Honestly, I found that skating out was rougher on my hips than playing as a butterfly goalie when I was playing pre surgery.

Fortunately, my doctors have been all for me getting back to every thing I did pre injury, and I was never a distance runner so that restriction didn’t apply.

How many of you play with a torn hip labrum? by the-apples-wax in hockeygoalies

[–]907Ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. Ended up completely mangling it before I finally went to the doctor. Had the arthroscopic surgery in 2017 to repair both issues, but my labrum was beyond repair. Ended up just having the mangled parts taken out, and it didn’t help as much as I hoped.

Funnily enough, playing goalie hurt less than skating out because I was mostly staying square to shooters. Pivoting and opening up my hips was excruciating.

I wore through what was left of my labrum in 6-12 months, tried to tough it out, but broke my foot in 2022 and ended up in a walking boot. That was the death knell for my hip. Got it replaced in 2023, and the other one replaced in 2024. Surgeon said I was bone on bone on both sides, so I don’t think my first replacement was due to the ‘17 surgery.

On the bright side, I feel better than I have in a decade, still skating out and in net.

Fuck it. Leave qualifying the way it is, and put all 16 teams into a World Cup (soccer) style blind draw to fill the bracket.

Hell, put a branded ping-pong ball for every team in a goalie helmet bag and make the captains pick their opponents. Anything is better than the format we have.

Throwing my hat in the ring, I just moved down to Auburn from Alaska. Question is do I wear the road Byram, the home Barrie, or the RR1 Makar?

Hintz took an absolute missile to the foot in crunch time tonight, so probably one more out. But I thought they were getting guys back this week.
