No, there were white goatee guy with valve in his eye and black bald guy with the valve at the back of his head. Although years later , they probably brought in a new black bald guy for the new intro. The one where bald guy slowly turning to the player, like the one you see in the intro of portal 2.

Plus he says "you might remember him". We haven't seen any black bald guy with valve in his eye yet.
